Zogby: Sandy Helping Obama With Independents
Newsmax ^ | 11/2/12 | John Bachman and Patrick Hobin

Posted on 11/03/2012 5:56:48 AM PDT by lasereye

Despite President Barack Obama turning the tide with a five-point swing among Independents with his response to Hurricane Sandy, the race is still too close to call, pollster John Zogby tells Newsmax TV.

The latest NewsmaxZogby polling numbers show Obama, who was down three points just a few days ago, has pulled ahead by a couple of points.

Zogby said the president is “turning the tide with Independents.”

“He was down by as many as nine and 10 points nationally among independents and now what we see is that that’s a razor thin,” he said.

“The governor leads by only three points among independents and it’s trending Obama. I wouldn’t call this big momentum but . . . he was down three points three days ago and now he’s up two. That is a five-point swing. At the same time, we do see him improving his numbers with young voters and hitting the 60 percent mark. And, of course, that’s very significant. It doesn’t match what he did last time but it’s enough to put him in contention. And right now I wouldn’t tell you to see your bookie with a thousand-dollar bet on Obama winning but it’s certainly looking better, obviously, more competitive.”

So-called independents are just people who are too clueless to know *what* they are, and/or too gutless to admit that they are really liberals.

No offense, but that's nonsense. Lots of conservatives refuse to officially (or otherwise) affiliate themselves with the Republican party, and call themselves independents. That doesn't make them liberals.

He’s probably exaggerating the indy movement to Obama...but it wouldn’t surprise me if there has been some by the typical clueless middle of the road voter.

Just saw Campaign Carl on FOX. He said he saw some of Romney’s internal pols. They see too close to call in several states and it’s down to GOTV and some places could have to wait for mail in ballot counts. And they are getting lawyers prepared.

Well that really scares me. I've been hoping that Romney's internal polls are much stronger. I can't stomach the thought of another four years of Obama. What the hell is wrong with people in this country?

"Several states"; Which three states ?
PA, WI, and NV ?
VA, OH, and CO ?

It makes all the difference for which three of the battleground states he saw internal polls.
PA, WI, and NV ?
VA, OH, and CO ?

I do believe there has been a small bump for Obama among independents because of the hurricane. Call it a “rally around the President in times of trouble bump”. I expect that as the misery sets in (re the hurricane), and as independents refocus on jobs and the economy as Tuuesday draws nearer the bump will evaporate.

Just saw Campaign Carl on FOX. He did not reference any “internal polls.” He did say Ohio and New Hampshire were thought to be close. He also said the Romney camp was somewhat “giddy” which I interpreted as confident or optimistic. He also said that Anne Romney had brought the press corps, who he intimated were not particulary easy on the Romneys, someone’s birthday cupcakes to share. My impression of Carl is that he is not voting for Romney and is not particularly inclined to support him but is trying to appear impartial and professional.

Don’t shoot the messenger, I was just repeating what he said earlier this AM, when he did reference internal polls. If it was my campaign and it was that close in OH, I’d be ready for anything too considering all the evidence of fraud going on there.

Relax. Zogby is a rabid anti-Semite and America-hater who had the worst — worst — polls of 2010. NRO’s Gerahty has Romney +22 with independents.
