President Barack Obama has seen a once-steady lead in Michigan decline to just 2 points in a recent poll, and Michigan has been thrown into "toss-up" status in the election's final week.
The poll, from The Detroit News, finds Obama leading Republican rival Mitt Romney, 47.7 percent to 45 percent. That's the second poll in a week that has shown an increasingly tight race in the state, including a Foster McCollum White Baydoun poll that showed the race virtually tied. And it comes as a pro-Romney super PAC, American Crossroads, includes Michigan in its $50 million, final-week ad buy.
Intriguingly, when comparing the Michigan poll to a new poll of Ohio released today, it shows that the race in Michigan is actually closer.
The key points in the new poll:
* What's pushing Romney to a virtual statistical tie in the state is his clear advantage on trust in handling the economy. He leads the president, 47-44, on the crucial issue, even in a state dominated by the auto industry.
* Compared with September, men have shifted 5 points more toward Romney.
* What's keeping Obama afloat: His advantage in connecting with voters who think he "understands their values." Forty-eight percent identified with Obama on that question, compared with just 43 percent for Romney.
* Obama also has a significant, 8-point advantage on handling foreign affairs.

I hope you are right! I seem to be in an area that is very supportive of it, at least according to the number of signs and the general conversations I keep hearing and having. I continually try to clear up the confusion that the Pro side is purposely creating with their lies, but it is a very task to combat ignorance!
Thank you for the encouraging feedback.
He’s the real life version of Joe Pesci’s “The Super.”
Lets not forget Jamie Farr (Klinger)
mmmmn, that’s good sarcasm!

I’m union and I’ll be voting for my country first!
(And that doesn’t mean Obama!)
Rush is talking about this poll right now. Hope we can also, I would like to find a new job, 6PM to 4:30AM stinks.
Michigan does not have a “huge” Islamic population. There is one outpost, Dearborn. The population of the rest of the state is not much different that the rest of the nation.
Ohio won it fair and square and there are no give backs.
Detroit has job training, community centers, corruption, more job training, midnight basketball, drug rehab programs up the wazoo, gov. low cost housing loans, low cost housing, spread the wealth around programs, high taxes for 'the wealthy', tactics to pull in suburbs to make them pay for the stupidity of Detroit;s choices., disability for those too lazy to work, disability for drug addicts, disability for alcoholics, community organizers, more 'job' training, more community organizers etc etc...
Every liberal idea has been tried in Detroit - and failed...
Michiganers might have decided they don't want their parts of the state to look like Detroit... and that's a vote for Romney.
You’re exactly correct. Look at Sterling Heights, MI - large middle-east population but overwhelmingly Christian, lots of “Mary” statues in front of homes. My neighbors are from Iraq. It is also one of the safest cities in the country (w/100,000+ population) according to FBI stats. I enjoy living here and have never had a problem.
That said, they have a very deep distrust of muslims. Which is understandable, they fled their homelands because of them. In some ways Sterling Heights is the opposite of Dearborn.
The voters of Michigan must be a lot dumber than I originally thought. How can a president "handle foreign affairs" when he is negligent in protecting the life of his own ambassador? How can a president "handle foreign affairs" when he bows to a Saudi prince? How can a president "handle foreign affairs" when he disses allies such as the UK, Israel, and Poland, and helps to undermine the allied Mubarek regime in Egypt in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood? And, oh yes, he's endorsed for re-election by the likes of Chavez and Castro!
Do these voters in Michigan actually agree with this? Are they Americans or are they communists and or/Islamists?
I live in a white-flight bedroom community that will never resemble what people see in Detroit neighborhoods which is why I call it a white-flight bedroom community in the first place.
From your keyboard to God’s ears!
Toledo reminds me of a giant Ypsilanti. That's not a compliment.
I think most Michiganders have an isolationist streak more than anything else.
Thank you. People outside of the state must think the whole place looks like Kuwait.
I would like to live on the western side of the state, but my most of my family is on the east side, and has been for over 100 years.
