This is a question that has bothered me for some time. In this age of political correctness, one would think that companies and organizations would go overboard NOT to offend ANYONE. But, that is simply not the case. Not only is political correctness selectively applied, it seems that none of these groups has any problem offending Christians.
As Fox News reports, the administrators at Louisiana State University are in hot water over an incident in which a Christian group's crosses were airbrushed out of a photograph.
A group of Louisiana State University football fans whose admiration for the Tigers is second only to their love for Jesus is outraged after the school digitally erased the tiny crosses they painted on their bare upper chests at a recent football game.
LSU officials sent out a photo of The Painted Posse, Christian students who paint their bodies with LSU school colors and small crosses for home games, in an email about the LSU game against South Carolina on Oct. 13. The students were shocked to see the photo, which appeared to be otherwise untouched, in the newsletter that went out following the Tigers' 23-21 win over the then-No. 3 Gamecocks. The Tigers are now 7-1 for the season.
"I was a bit surprised, because our pictures get used so frequently, and the cross had never been edited before," Posse member Cameron Cooke told CampusReform.org. "The cross painting is important to me because it represents who I am as a Christ follower.
WLOX 13 did a story on the cross removal, and it's interesting what the administrator had to say:
Here's the original picture:
And here's what made it into the message sent by the university:
The comments by LSU's Associate Vice Chancellor for University Relations Herb Vincent were quite perplexing. First, Vincent noted that airbrushing of photographs is done to improve the "overall quality" of the image.
Second, Vincent said, "When we sent out a communication to our sports fans, we don't like to send out any message that may be interpreted as a political message or religious message or anything like that so that's why the airbrushing was done on the photograph."
Hello! Vincent's actions sent both a political and religious message. Can't he or anyone else in the LSU leadership see that? The political message is that LSU, like so many other groups, will bow to the perceived pressure of political correctness. The religious message is that somehow Christianity is offensive. Do you think he realizes that The Painted Posse is a Christian organization?
So, it's apparently ok to offend Christians, all in the name of not offending some other religion. Can we get past this nonsense and back to some common sense?
Its ok to go around with obscene pictures, tattoos, logos and sayings on your body/clothing, but dont profess to be a Christian. This is proof positive that liberalism starts out as a creeping disease and it takes over before you realize it. If the founders had been of this mindset, this nation would never have become the greatest nation on earth. That doesnt mean we cant fail, just as many other nations have when they turned from Godly/spiritual ways.
Christians have been “turning the other cheek” for decades, that’s why.
There are no consequences for abusing Christians; we are simply subjected to more ridicule if we dare to speak out.
Hating Christians is part of the politically correct playbook. So is making us either part, or all, of the problem.
It’s really no different than Hitler blaming the Jews.
Why ask such a stupid question? Yes some questions are stupid. Modern Christians do not have a history of blind violence. It is safe to criticize and bash them. Everyone knows that why bother to write it. You dont see the left bashing Islamists that oppress women and gays the very thing the left accuses the right of doing. Why not? Because islamists extremists makes killing their critics in the street is commonplace. That is why, can we move on now....
My pastor says it’s because Christians worship the one true God and Satan wants to destroy us. So, political correctness and religious diversity are only about eliminating Christianity from the world.
But, we know how it all ends, so no matter what persecution they do to Christians, Jesus WILL come again, and He WILL be victorious! Lots of people may not read their Bibles, but rest assured that Satan knows Scripture, so it’s imperative we do, too. And realize that Satan will try to warp/twist anything to deceive us into following him. Stick with Jesus, hold on to your Bibles (and here in America, your guns! :) )
Blessings!
BECAUSE THE REAL CHRISTIANS TURN THE OTHER CHEEK.....
Besides the fact that Christians don’t blow stuff/people up whenever they are insulted?
The official, politically correct line from the left is that Western Civilization’s got to go. That’s because it is based on Christian and Jewish concepts of right and wrong.
One of the goals of the left is to wipe out Christianity and Judaism.
They don’t want to wipe out the death cult from the middle east. They entered into a deep and loving alliance with the death cult in the hopes that the jihadis could help them wipe out Christianity and Judaism. The jihadis would be very happy to help them, and then chop liberal atheist heads as well.
Herb Vincent, meet Vlad Tepes.
Thou shalt not bomb thy neigbor.
The grandfather of political correctness stated that the purpose of political correctness was solely to make conservative speak “incorrect”.
Because we have rolled over and played dead and most of the mainstream Christian churches are too concerned with being political correct and acceptable instead of militant Christian.
boy that is pretty irony and contradiction loaded considering how it's all played out in American culture since the 60s about who acts out what
I don’t agree with your assessment. In the liberal mind, Christians are the purveyors of all evil in the world and are just waiting to strike again.
Their dualism (Christian, white, straight, western = bad and all else is good) creates a simplistic worldview that allows for very little nuance. The only right thing, in their mind, is to abolish all things Christian.
Short answer? Because offended Christians won’t follow you home and firebomb your house.
Because they know our God can take their incessant yapping.
Kinda like a Chihuahua barks at Dog weighing 100 pounds.
They have no shame being a mere a nuisance....
Because Christians don’t riot, cut people’s heads off, or blow stuff up when we are “offended.”
Eventually they’ll have to admit that LSU’s Associate Vice Chancellor for University Relations Herb Vincent is an AlQaida sleeper agent ~
And thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s 12-year old son or daughter!
Apparently the ‘prophet’ Mohammed had a yen for hairless young boys and 9-year-old girls!
Evil religion? You betcha!
Our phony fearless leader belives that hearing the call to ‘prayer’ from the minarets all over the world is the ‘prettiest sound I have ever heard.”
