Watching it unfold on live TV it did not seem right. It was awkwardly and comfortably scripted, and too smooth in execution. But watching it on replay the agenda filled manipulation was obvious. It appears Candy Crowley and CNN together with the Obama Administration scripted the Libyan injection into the Presidential Debate.I’m not just talking about Candy Crowley interjecting on behalf of President Obama, and interrupting Mitt Romney, I mean the whole segment was a set up. So we did a little research:

Candy Crowley told Erin Burnett on CNN’s show Out Front, Monday Night 10/15, that she had collected the questions from the invited and vetted debate audience at Hofstra University and was reviewing them. This was Monday on the 7pm broadcast of Erin Burnett.

When the question on Libya was asked by audience member Kerry Ladka, he prefaced the question by saying:

….this question actually comes from my, err, um, a brain trust of my friends at Global Telecom Supply in Mineola yesterday, we were sitting around talking about Libya…

If Candy Crowley already had the audience questions assembled the day before, how could Kerry Ladka and his brain trust friends have been writing one?

Carney has a rock-solid piece of sophistry to cover the argument, "It is, I think by definition, a terrorist attack when there is a prolonged assault on an embassy with weapons."

So, the argument turns into a definition, and dodges the substantive question of the motive ascribed to the attackers, by the administration.

Q Can I ask one more -- are criticizing the President for not classifying what happened in Benghazi as a terrorist attack, going as far as you did or the NCTC director. Can you respond to that and explain why that is?

MR. CARNEY: The President spoke eloquently I believe about the attack that took the lives of four Americans at the United Nations General Assembly, and I think made very clear that it is wholly unacceptable to respond to a video, no matter how offensive, with violence, and it is wholly unacceptable, regardless of the reason, to attack embassies or diplomatic facilities and to kill diplomatic personnel.

The President -- our position is, as reflected by the NCTC director, that it was a terrorist attack. It is, I think by definition, a terrorist attack when there is a prolonged assault on an embassy with weapons.

The broader questions here about who participated, what led to the attack on the facility in Benghazi -- all those questions are under investigation at two levels, by the FBI and by the Accountability Review Board established by Secretary Clinton to look at issues of security in Benghazi and security at other diplomatic facilities. So, let's be clear, it was a terrorist attack and it was an inexcusable attack.

Great! but that was Carney talking “15 days” after the ‘attack’.

What did Carney say PRIOR TO those 15 days, and IMMEDIATELY AFTER the attack????

My point is that Carney is reframing the argument. He said on Sept 26th that the attack was provoked by a movie, -AND- that it was a terrorist attack.

site:www.whitehouse.gov benghazi - Google Search

I clicked on the first 30 or so hits, and looked for the word "terror" (which would catch the word "terrorism" too), and the administration did not assign the motive of "terrorism" to the attack. Not even on September 26th, 15 days later.

If every attack is terrorism, which is what Carney claims, then Romney needs to change the question to one of motive for the attack and assigning that Mohammad-mocking movie as the motive. Don;t argue over the label - that's where Obama wants to take the debate.

Of course not! There is at least one other version (at www.whitehouse.gove) that does not have the "deplore terror" line in it.

The debate exchange will work on low information voters, but anybody who took an interest in the Benghazi incident early on knows that the administration assigned that Mohammad-mocking movie as the root cause of anger motivating the perpetrators.

The version I just posted has the president alluding to the video as the attackers justification for the attack.

The “terror” word clearly is used generically to describe our history in the middle-east since 9/11.

Yes, I saw that when I first read the transcript of his Sept 12 remarks. Crowley was wrong last night, and on reading the debate transcript, Romney did a fine job of stating his position and getting Obama on the record. Notice that Romney repeats "spontaneous reaction" a few times.

Transcript And Audio: Second Presidential Debate - WNYC

MR. ROMNEY: Yeah, I -- I certainly do. I certainly do. I -- I think it's interesting the president just said something which is that on the day after the attack, he went in the Rose Garden and said that this was an act of terror. You said in the Rose Garden the day after the attack it was an act of terror. It was not a spontaneous demonstration.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Please proceed.

MR. ROMNEY: Is that what you're saying?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Please proceed, Governor.

MR. ROMNEY: I -- I -- I want to make sure we get that for the record, because it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of terror.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Get the transcript.

MS. CROWLEY: It -- he did in fact, sir.

So let me -- let me call it an act of terrorism -- (inaudible) --

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Can you say that a little louder, Candy? (Laughter, applause.)

MS. CROWLEY: He did call it an act of terror. It did as well take -- it did as well take two weeks or so for the whole idea of there being a riot out there about this tape to come out. You are correct about that.

MR. ROMNEY: This -- the administration -- the administration -- (applause) -- indicated that this was a -- a reaction to a -- to a video and was a spontaneous reaction.

MS. CROWLEY: They did.

MR. ROMNEY: It took them a long time to say this was a terrorist act by a terrorist group and -- and to suggest -- am I incorrect in that regard? On Sunday the -- your -- your secretary or --

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Candy --

MR. ROMNEY: Excuse me. The ambassador to the United Nations went on the Sunday television shows and -- and spoke about how this was a spontaneous reaction.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Candy, I'm -- I'm happy to --

MS. CROWLEY: Mr. President, let me -- I --

PRESIDENT OBAMA: I'm happy to have a longer conversation about foreign policy.

MS. CROWLEY: I know you -- absolutely. But I want -- I want to move you on.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: OK, I'm happy to do that too.

MS. CROWLEY: And also, people can go to the transcripts and --

PRESIDENT OBAMA: I just want to make sure that --

MS. CROWLEY: -- figure out what was said and when.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: -- you know, all these wonderful folks are going to have a chance to get some -- their questions answered.

MS. CROWLEY: Because what I want to do, Mr. President -- stand there for a second, because I want to introduce you to Nina Gonzales, who brought up a question that we hear a lot, both over the Internet and from this crowd.

Seriously, it is irrelevant whether he said it or not. It doesn’t change the fact (and only reinforces it) that they knew it was an act of terror and had nothing to do with the video and yet LIED to the American people for weeks.
They LIED.

I think the fluff about her retracting was overplayed last night. I bought into it. Here is one instance of her explaining herself.

One thing I think is interesting, is that she talks about him using the wrong word, when she addresses the YouTube video as “Tapes”. What tapes?

She seems to state here that she didn’t make a mistake, but admits the Obama administration did blame the incident on the YouTube (tapes) video for about two weeks. This implies a spontaneous protest, not terrorism. And this is totally lost on Crowley.

This isn’t exactly what you wanted, but it does provide the lame explanation she was hawking last night.

Okay good. Glad you found it.

I agree with your take on it.

She asked around around questions last night. It was supposed to be a town hall.

Six of those questions were decidedly in Obama’s favor. Three were tilted toward Romney. Three were fairly neutral.

She gave Obama three and a half more minutes of talk-time.

She interrupted at the end to defend Obama. (I read this morning that Michelle started the clapping)

The Democrats have gotten more time in all three debates now. The moderators have leaning Left in each debate.

In the VP debate, the moderator didn’t ask Biden to stop interrupting once.

Can’t believe stupid Conservatives think there’s bias in the media. Geez... /s

http://www.forextv.com/forex-news-story/full-transcript-of-obama-s-rose-garden-speech-after-sept-11-benghazi-attack

Full press release transcript:

Remarks by the President on the Deaths of U.S. Embassy Staff in Libya

Rose Garden

10:43 A.M. EDT

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Every day, all across the world, American diplomats and civilians work tirelessly to advance the interests and values of our nation. Often, they are away from their families. Sometimes, they brave great danger.

Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi. Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith. We are still notifying the families of the others who were killed. And today, the American people stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and in our prayers.

The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. We’re working with the government of Libya to secure our diplomats. I’ve also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world. And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.

Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None. The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts.

Already, many Libyans have joined us in doing so, and this attack will not break the bonds between the United States and Libya. Libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside Americans. Libyans helped some of our diplomats find safety, and they carried Ambassador Stevens’s body to the hospital, where we tragically learned that he had died.

It’s especially tragic that Chris Stevens died in Benghazi because it is a city that he helped to save. At the height of the Libyan revolution, Chris led our diplomatic post in Benghazi. With characteristic skill, courage, and resolve, he built partnerships with Libyan revolutionaries, and helped them as they planned to build a new Libya. When the Qaddafi regime came to an end, Chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new Libya, and he worked tirelessly to support this young democracy, and I think both Secretary Clinton and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there. He was a role model to all who worked with him and to the young diplomats who aspire to walk in his footsteps.

Along with his colleagues, Chris died in a country that is still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war. Today, the loss of these four Americans is fresh, but our memories of them linger on. I have no doubt that their legacy will live on through the work that they did far from our shores and in the hearts of those who love them back home.

Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks. We mourned with the families who were lost on that day. I visited the graves of troops who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hallowed grounds of Arlington Cemetery, and had the opportunity to say thank you and visit some of our wounded warriors at Walter Reed. And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it. Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

But we also know that the lives these Americans led stand in stark contrast to those of their attackers. These four Americans stood up for freedom and human dignity. They should give every American great pride in the country that they served, and the hope that our flag represents to people around the globe who also yearn to live in freedom and with dignity.

We grieve with their families, but let us carry on their memory, and let us continue their work of seeking a stronger America and a better world for all of our children.

Thank you. May God bless the memory of those we lost and may God bless the United States of America.

END

Misleading my ass. Lies, lies, and more lies. Not misleading, not misstatements, not gaffes.

I'm tired of all the euphemisms for lies.

And I have no problem with that — they’re a team and the spontaneous enthusiasm makes sense. But she wasn’t the only voice heard. I’d say at least a dozen cheered — not exactly representative of the “undecided” audience members.
