......A fledging chick still depends on its parents for subsistence. ......

Thank you!

You are correct - it fits!

May 29, 2012 (Ricochet) Elon Musk Shows Us How to Thrive in the Government-Directed Economy ...."Those who know how to navigate an economy driven by the state will succeed. They do so regardless whether the market has determined their product as the best or not—sometimes it has, sometimes it hasn’t. Sometimes the consumer has no real ability, thanks to the aforementioned mix of laws and regulations, to go in another direction. Sometimes the only consumer is the government, meaning the appropriators, bureaucrats, and administrators who dream fondly of working some day for the contractor titans they fuel with other people’s money.".....

Sept 18, 2012 (PJ Tattler) - Elon Musk SpaceX Head Obama Bundler?

April 15, 2012 (National Legal and Policy Center) Taxpayers Subsidize Forbes 'Green' Billionaires' Schemes........Musk, best known as co-founder of the company that became PayPal, is Chairman of SolarCity and CEO of Tesla. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, SolarCity spent $535,000 in 2009 and 2010 to lobby Congress and the Department of Energy on climate legislation, the Recovery Act, “green workforce training and development,” and provisions in various legislation “relevant to solar development.” SolarCity has sought to extend a program, due to expire at the end of 2012, that delivers to manufacturers an upfront cash grant in lieu of a 30 percent Investment Tax Credit (called the Section 1603 grant program). So far, according to DOE reports, SolarCity has received more than $66 million from that program.

The company also won a partial guarantee from DOE of a $344 million loan that will place up to 160,000 rooftop solar installations on military housing across the country..........."

Fisker has sold more than 1,000 Karmas, which cost $103,000, since the car went on sale last December.

I believe two of them have burned so far. On a percentage basis, that would be like 5000 Prius erupting into flames.

Hybrid cars are more attractive than electric cars and they do have a market.

Liberals have tried to force-feed electric cars to Americans for years and there are few takers for them.

From your LINKED article: ....... But now China’s strategy is in disarray. Though worldwide demand for solar panels and wind turbines has grown rapidly over the last five years, China’s manufacturing capacity has soared even faster, creating enormous oversupply and a ferocious price war.

The result is a looming financial disaster, not only for manufacturers but for state-owned banks that financed factories with approximately $18 billion in low-rate loans and for municipal and provincial governments that provided loan guarantees and sold manufacturers valuable land at deeply discounted prices......"

Looks like an opening to mandate homes and businesses here in the "free" world install their panels and pay rent for their use.

The electric car company is the grown up child living in the basement and bumming pizza money off its grandparents.

Up until today everything I’ve read about the Volt is that it is an electric car run off a battery that needs recharging every 40 some odd miles, therefore needing to be plugged in someplace.

Today I learned it has a gasoline engine and is in fact a hybrid. I read arguments by GM that it is not a hybrid because the engine is not directly coupled to the ring gear and is used only to recharge the battery or boost the electric motor in times of acceleration.

To me it does not matter what purpose the gas engine serves, as it is still an expensive piece of green junk I will never buy.

During WW II we provided trainloads of brand new American tractors to the USSR, FDR's "valued ally," while American farmers had to make do with their older worn out models. Any Russian tractors failing in the 60's were probably thirty year old American tractors.

In fact I have a vague memory about our building a tractor factory for the Russians, back in the day.
