"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in one clip. "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

Adding to his argument about entitlement, Romney said his "job is not to worry about those people."

"I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives," he added.

“The election is over. Romney lost and lost big. Whether or not anyone thinks this is true, or if it IS true, is irrelevant. The only remaining question is how badly will down ticket suffer. It’s gonna be big.”

With all due respect, shut up and go to hell, troll.

I think this fits well with calling O the “food stamp president”. Its true, everyone knows its true, and its a breath of fresh air to hear someone speak frankly for a change.

The worst thing, and I mean the worst thing Romney can do is apologize for saying it, or try and walk it back. He should double down and swing for the bleachers.

As someone else said on this thread, its not the 99% versus the 1%, its the 47% versus the 53%. If Romney can capture the 53% percent its a landslide.

It is very interesting that when the polls are adjusted with the right R/D turnout and registration, it comes down to Romney 53%, The Marxist 47%, with 47% matching the freeloader percentage.

Holy crap, I have so much more confidence in Romney after listening to this. He actually gets it. I hope this is played over and over and over again. The public needs to hear it.

The election is over. Romney lost and lost big.

I don't think so. I think its going to be Romney/Ryan by a landslide. I think this is going to be on the order of tectonic plates shifting.

More people believe that Govt is doing TOO MUCH and more and more people want Govt to get out of our lives. I think that Romney leaked this video on purpose. I cant even believe Im saying this but BRAVO ROMNEY..FINALLY he says something I can stand up and say YES YOUR RIGHT..The media is going to pretend that this is bad for Romney..NO, its GOOD..I hope EVERYONE hears it, the more the better because what Romney said is the TRUTH

Has anyone actually heard the audio, in context?

The excerpt appears to imply he doesnt care about the 47% that doesn’t pay taxes.

But, was he really saying that he just wasn’t going to try to get them to vote for him?

If it was really the former, then he is never going to shake this. But, if he can push back and say that he is not going to pander for their vote, he can make this a net win.

Just listened. He is speaking in generalities and is spot on. There are those who are dependent and will vote for Obama no matter what. Romney will never be able to change their minds in this election. That is the long and short of it. Nothing to see here..

The bigger problem is that this is the only kind of garbage that gets Romney any kind of visibility on the news. Say more things that “enrage” the liberals and media and get news time. It seems to work..Say more of it.

I agree with you.

I often wondered if Romney really got it. I wasn’t a supporter in the primaries, and was voting for Mitt simply because he’s not Obama. This video doesn’t make him a great candidate, but it goes a long way to demonstrating to me that he really does get how bad things have gotten. Of course I was going to vote for him anyway, but I am much more comfortable with Romney after listening to this.

“Romney wandering about peddling Hannity’s half baked theory about vast hordes of people escaping payment of any taxes at all”

Everyone pays some taxes, but a LOT get back more than they pay. Would you care to guess what the percentage is of folks who don’t pay any income tax? Hint - it IS below 50%. Care to guess the percentage of income tax paid by the bottom 50%? Hint - it isn’t very much...

What, do they think most hard working folks will disagree with this? They’ve seen the videos of Obama’s supporters, including the SEIU people, and the Occupy Wall Street folks, and probably are disgusted by their entitlement attitudes.

The people who “feel” dependancy is a virtue are about 32% of that 47%.
The lazy, dishonest and amoral cheaters!

We all have at least three of “them” in our extended families, or larger circle of acquaintances.
They all, each and every one of them, deserve nothing but open scorn.
We bite our tongues, lest we be labeled judgmental./sarcasm//

We all also know at least one person, who but for the grace of God,is our self, and that one individual in four is the only reason most people still support a certain degree of government assistance.

If we would rid ourselves of the other three from our welfare systems, and our government, there would be little animosity for the few who truly need, and also deserve, our support.

Yes, that means our (in my case former) friends and family members who are proud to be cheaters and liars.
