Activists to Romney: Why Aren't You Beating Obama?

WASHINGTON - Republican activists are incredulous: Why can't Republican Mitt Romney seem to break open a tight race with President Barack Obama given the nation's sluggish economy and conservative enthusiasm to beat the Democrat?

"He ought to be killing Obama, and he's clearly not doing that," said 32-year-old R.J. Robinson, one of the thousands of activists attending the annual Values Voters Summit this weekend. "He should be doing better."

Well let’s see:

Unemployment is UP. That said, Dems have supported insurance even for the unemployed.

So there is no bounce for Republicans from the economic troubles, because those out of work do NOT see Republicans as helpful for their own situations.

That is the real deal. We are very close to break-even, after which point it’s all downhill (until it crashes)

The problem is nobody is caring about the crash. Only about how things will be now, before the crash.

Romney needs to speak up, and get Ryan out there.

And Republicans need to bring back US jobs.

Now.

Obama favors Gay Marriage and Taxpayer funded abortion on demand up to birth. He specifically had both positions written into the 2012 Democrat Party platform

Romney opposes both. Sorry Romney is not perfectly pure enough for you but anyone who cannot see the deep fundamental difference between the two is simply NOT looking.

Your point about the looming economic crash is well made.

Unfortunately, the e-GOP will NEVER take off the gloves and take the fight to the Dems. They seem to enjoy being perennially on the ropes!!

This election is no different!

I'll bet by then more than 70% of the population will either work for the government or be living off it.

Only if the gov nationalizes all industry. I choose not to believe that most citizens will surrender to the gov.

The problem for the GOP this time is they nominated a candidate that is impossible for that 2% on either side to support for whatever reason...

Another high and mighty type. Principles and a nickel get you nowhere, pal.

How can you even pretend Romney is opposed to abortion He said” I will NEVER infringe upon a woman’s right to choose” RomneyCare provides free taxpayer funded abortion, and he just recently said how proud he was of RomneyCare. He said “I will be better for gays than Ted Kennedy. He implemented gay marriage as well as same sex adoptions. You brought up gay marriage and abortion. Again please explain the deep fundamental difference between Romney and the DEM. platform or Obama.

Keep your nickel pal.

Voting for liberals has in the past and will continue in the future, to get this country nowhere.

Name one thing Romney has done since he got the nomination that makes you want to vote FOR him. Name one position he has taken that is consistent with the conservatism that is at the heart of this forum?

Remind me to give you a call the next time I am in a foxhole.

Activists need to quit bitchin’ and start workin’.

This may come as a shock to you, but just maybe it really isn't just about the Economy Stupid.

The GOPe has determined that you can not attack so we will play defense and will in all likelihood lose, unless they come out of their inside the beltway stupor.

Nothing will make me stay home. The Obamsm could have him ahead by 46% and I’d still go vote for his opponent.

I'll vote for conservatives down ticket. Montanans dont vote straight tickets. If the Dim Schweitzer wasnt term limited he would get 70% of the vote. Romney will probably win but he is not helping Rehberg and Tester will probably squeak a out small win. The house will probably go to the GOP but the Governorship will stay Dim.

It makes a difference down ticket whether in Montana or any other state if there is a liberal at the top of the GOP ticket..

That's them. It's not us. We attacked in 2010 and my tea party friends are attacking plenty.

Romney is cowering in the corner hoping nobody notices him and that he can win this race on the sole issue that he ain't Obama.

Which seems to be enough for a lot of people here.

Think you can 'impeach" a dictator? Not in YOUR lifetime.

Apparently we can't even un-elect one. Of course few people know we have one now, because we can't tell the truth about him.

The GOPe know best.

“Sarah Palin proved all 4 of those points wrong when she brought us a victory in 2010. Gov Walker also overcame CNN, MSNBC, NY Times Company.”

Sarah Palin wasn’t dealing with reaching 270 electoral votes. Big Big difference.

Thank you it is nice to be back. I live in a solid blue state so my vote will not count. I will write in as a protest against being give another liberal. I have been holding my nose to vote for too long, and each time the next candidate is even more liberal till now they don’t even have to pretend to have nominated a conservative. I hope Romney wins but I know there will be no real change.
