Former U.S. Ambassador to China and presidential candidate Jon Huntsman said on Friday that Mitt Romneys response to the violent protests in the Middle East and North Africa posed a problem for the man he endorsed several months ago.
Romneys decision to criticize the Obama administration was ill-advised and was a lost opportunity, Huntsman said on MSNBCs Morning Joe. This was an opportunity to instruct, to elucidate, to educate, to talk about how you put the pieces back together again in North Africa and the Middle East, he said. Not to condemn, not to criticize, not to turn it into a political event, but to explain to the American people what we're going to do during a time of need, during a time of crisis, during a time of uncertainty.
In a time where relations between the U.S. and the Arab world is strained, and questions surrounding the broader implications of the Arab Springs are prevalent, Huntsman said that Romney should have explained his position on the democratic uprisings of late.
I don't know what Governor Romney is proposing at this point, Huntsman said.
While protests were still taking place outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, where protesters breached the compound, Romney went after President Obama for what he called apologizing for the U.S. The Romney campaign cited a statement by the embassy that condemned religious intolerance.
Obama has pledged to bring those who killed our fellow Americans to justice. On Friday, Huntsman praised the president for his actions in the wake of the tragedy overseas.
The president has said that he will go after those who killed our American diplomats abroad, Huntsman said. I think these are things that all Americans can rally around.

Huntsman is a Democrat plant, gaining credibility by being a planted “candidate.”
John McCain told Hannity that relations with the Arab world aren’t strained, it’s just the malcontents are making life difficult for the peaceful elected leaders of the Arab Spring.
These 7th century fleas are pretty good at making it impossible to define the enemy. That way, no matter what anybody says, someone like Huntsman or McCain can be offended.
The only way to quell them is to level Mecca. That’s the only definable point in common.
Basically Huntsman is as nuts today as he was the day he agreed to turn his back on America and become Obama’s voice in Big China.
They’re killing our people and burning down our embassies ~ hardly the time to engage in detached discussions .......... much better to bring in some firepower and make the little batardes pay
Huntsman is a narcissist as great as Obama. He is just an unlucky narcissist, a fate worse than any he could imagine. It will eat at him for the rest of his life and leave him an embittered old man.
since when has that been defined as a “ticket”???
The only “problem” we have is Huntsman.
codswallup
Ain't gonna happen.
Total war and beat them into submission is the only answer because their religious beliefs of total world domination.
Huntsman recommends doing in the ME and N Africa what we’ve been doing for decades with exactly no results. Is this not the very definition of insanity?
I think you owe a royalty payment to Mark Steyn for using that word.
It was taken by Charlie Crist?
I was just googling that word and nobody seems to know where it came from. I have always liked it. I always assumed it meant cod guts or leavings. It is one of those words that you kind of get an idea of what it means just from the way it sounds. You just know it can’t be anything good.
America’s response of no response is a problem of historical precedence!
King Leopold please pick up the white courtesy telephone!
Until now, all those alleged Republicans (the ones who were, according to MSM reporters, apoplectic over Romney's criticism of Obama's apologies) were anonymous.
Now that we have Huntsman's name, we see they weren't quoting a Republican after all.
Ahhh, I see. Well Mark Steyn used it in an article within the last few days. But I agree, it is a wonderful word, especially when used in conjunction with anything the current administration says.
Thank you. Jackass came to mind.
I was afraid to articulate.
I love Mark Steyn. Now there is a fellow who can turn a phrase.
shut the hell up you loser Huntsman...
