Akin reminds of an old Jesse Jackson slogan of, "keep hope alive", but in Akin's case it's, "keep ego alive.

well no one could shut him up after he saw a way to raise cash nationwide. Republicans wouldn’t shut up either. Not surprised

Republicans everywhere, from Romney on down, will continue to be embarrassed by this idiots stupidity until said idiot finally drops out. Which he will, but not until after the damage is done.

I still have my McCain-Palin yard sign out in the garage: it says “Country First”. A lesson this egomaniac ought to consider learning.

Republican leaders may want to turn the page on Rep. Todd Akin’s comments about women and rape, but Democrats won't let them.

And the LA Times dutifully helps.

"Republican leaders may want to turn the page on Rep. Todd Akin’s comments about women and rape, but Democrats won't let them."

And we all know, when the Democrats say "Jump" the Republican leaders say "How high?"

Think it was pretty obvious to anyone with a shred of sense that this Todd Akin moron was doomed to be a toxic liability to the GOP’s electoral efforts as a whole.

This akin chump will not be pleased until he drags the whole ticket down with him. Too bad there is no way to repo his cushy tax payer paid retirement.

All the democrats love him and he can socialize with them after he is out of office for good next year.

Whether he resigned or not, they would still have to deal with his comments — and he ain’t resigning. So deal with it.

If it wasn’t for the Republicans yapping on and on about it for days on end, we would not be in the mess we are in. Akin said the words and if the Republicans didn’t scream and pout, this would not even be an issue. Good luck Republicans making your job harder.

Here is what Todd Akin said regarding pregnancy from rape, which has generated the apoplexy seen on Freerepublic and websites:

“It seems to me, first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, uh the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

“But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something. You know, I think there should be some punishment but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child.”

Akin subsequently issued this apology:

“Rape is an evil act. I used the wrong words in the wrong way and for that I apologize. As the father of two daughters, I want tough justice for predators. I have a compassionate heart for the victims of sexual assault. And I pray for them. The fact is, rape can lead to pregnancy. The truth is, rape has many victims. The mistake I made was in the words I said, not in the heart I hold. I ask for your forgiveness.”

It is clear from the context that Akin intended “legitimate” to mean “actual,” not “acceptable.”

So Karl Rove's lynch mob is here on Freerepublic for what reason?!?

Oh yeah, when the number 1 issue in people's minds is the economy running ads about Abortion is a sure winning ticket for the Dems.

Funny how quick the GOP-e/Conservatives are to forget their own electoral history. Dems are making the same tactical error the GOP-e/Conservatives accused Soc Con candidates of always doing.

Only Now the chicken littles in the GOP-E want to claim these tactics which have always failed will some how magically work for the Dems

Republican leaders may want to turn the page on Rep. Todd Akin’s comments about women and rape, but Democrats won't let them.

And supposed "conservatives" all over this website would rather beat this dead horse day in and day out then actually do anything useful to defeat O and his Progressive followers.

Odd how pathetically eager some "Conservatives" here are to continue spreading this propaganda line for the Democrat media noise machine.

By the time the RNC convention is over we’ll have plenty of negatives pictures to run in ads. Pictures of OWS and anarchists supported by obama himself.

Romney SUPPORTS homosexual leaders,
for our boyscouts. true?
Romney has supported abortion in the past! true?
-
but right now, Romney can win, in a landslide...
however, if he (and people like you!),
keeps showing there is little moral ground difference,
between Obama and Romney,
a lot of social conservatives may still find it impossible
to vote for Romney, and stay home instead.

The LA Times, Politico, etc., would like nothing better,
than to drive a wedge between Romney and conservatives voting their conscience.

...is what you WANT?
because frankly, the person you are helping the most...
with all your many articles and posts about Akin...
putting FALSE quotes in his mouth, etc.,
is McCaskill.

It is simply unrealistic to think that IF Akin dropout that that would be the end of it. Every republican running for Dog Catcher On has denounced his statements, As well they should, However I believe that was is really hurting the Republican party right now isn’t this. It is the lack of unity, They keep pushing for his withdraw. I think a better strategy would be to For the Party to say “Look he said something really stupid, He realizes it he has apologized for it.” “This does not define who he is or his respect for women or his voting record in Congress or his ideas about how to fix this country, Its time we get back to the issues.” If the Party would unify in this manner I think People everywhere could rally around this. But what the party is doing now is Giving a message that they “Eat there own” no mistakes will be tolerated. If it is fair game to go after one for a slip of the tongue Then why not go after Romney For donating to Plan Parenthood or His choice to force Catholics to adopt the Mass health plan?

If the Dems keep this up it’ll eventually reach the point of diminishing returns and be seen as carping.

Smart Republicans will be able to capitalize on that by reframing on why the Dems are so preoccupied with some moron in MO instead of on bread and butter issues like the economy. “I want to talk about Obamas high gasoline prices, and unemployment, why is it my Dem opponent wants to keep talking about Todd Akin?”
