How many rounds did they squeeze into bystanders after the guy was dead? 10 feet seems close enough that that the first couple shots should have already done the job.
CNN has the shooting video. Cops had to do it.
The police panicked. They were not well trained, or perhaps they were simply psychologically unfit for the job.
I do love the NYT’s sympathetic treatment of the police’s decison to shoot in a crowded street.
Now, if instead of 2 of NY’s finest it had been a “civilian” with concealed carry license who did this shoot, can anyone believe that the tone of the article would have been remotely similar?
Maybe this is evidence that the police should be disarmed - they are too great a threat to those they are supposed to protect.
Teach them to shoot .45ACP; that will stop a man dead in his tracks. Why use a 9mm when .45ACP is available? Just increases the odds the bad guys lives too long. Of course it pre-supposes the police can shoot to begin with.
And you have been in how many gunfights? No amount of training can prepare any police officers for this sort of thing.
Just saw a better video and it appears to substantiate that.
Begs the question, if your following someone on foot who you were told just murdered someone, would you not have your weapon already in your hand?
It would seem if they had their weapons already in hand their shots would have likely been much better placed, as opposed to quickly drawing and firing.
This is what the video seems to depict.
“How many rounds did they squeeze into bystanders after the guy was dead? 10 feet seems close enough that that the first couple shots should have already done the job.”
Exactly, We had a similar situation here in Danville, CA where the cops thought a guy in a car in a service station late at night “was going for a gun in his glove compartment,” so they opened fire to the tune of 24 rounds, twelve of which hit and killed the motorist. Luckily it was late at night so the only damage ( other than that inflicted on the motorist ( who died at the scene) were holes in the station itself. Never did get the real story about the supposed existence of a firearm. Cops are trigger happy when then get the chance.
