To: Slump Tester

And you have been in how many gunfights? No amount of training can prepare any police officers for this sort of thing.

I will be happy to answer for slumptester.
“And you have been in how many gunfights?”

JuST one.
No bystanders hurt and we accounted for EVERY round fired.

And you sir?

I don’t buy that. Training CAN teach them to think about where stray rounds are gonna go.

"No amount of training can prepare any police officers for this sort of thing."

What a silly statement. Preparing for "this sort of thing" is exactly WHY they train.

The Kenyan must go.

Have to disagree with that. After watching the video, I think more training and practice would have made a large difference

Not all men get hysterical in risky situations. During the '70s and before, many police depts. tried to hire men who had combat specialty training from military service. Now they prefer politically correct civilians and rear echelon folks who "want to see some action."

I recommend that anyone who is really clean (and clean minded) and wants to get into police work beware of municipals and counties. Try the DEA or FBI instead.

I agree with you 100%, but that doesn’t account for the fact that most NYPD don’t train very much. I know several active and quite a few retired NYPD. IIRC they “qualify” once a year. To a “T” they all complain about having to do it. I only know of one who shoots on his own.

The funny thing is almost all of them believe no one else should have a gun. I probably fire more rounds before I was 21 than they will in their lifetime. “Spray and Pray” is very much the prevailing attitude, and the one’s I spoken with that received specialized training are learning military techniques primarily designed to protect themselves but not anyone around them.

True enough. They were likely pumped (adrenaline) and rattled (shaky) with everything happening in slow motion and their own actions seeming far too slow as well.

They did what they had to do, and got the job done, even if it was a little messy.
