Penn State football needs to be suspended at least two years (calls for the death penalty)
Chicago Sun Times ^ | July 12, 2012 | Rick Morrissey

I want to hear the silence on Saturdays in State College, Pa. I want to experience the hush of an empty stadium. I want to feel the emptiness as an institution serves its penance for putting a football program above the safety of young boys.

Silence in exchange for silence — that’s the price Penn State needs to pay for looking away as a sexual predator ruined lives.

The school needs to shut down its football program for at least two years. Or, if university officials can’t quite locate their humanity, let the NCAA do it for them.

The Freeh Report came out Thursday, and it’s as damning and heartbreaking a document as you’ll ever read. It tells the story of a university so concerned with its reputation that it allowed children to be molested.

Please read that last sentence again. It’s what this whole disgusting mess comes down to. Coach Joe Paterno, athletic director Tim Curley, school president Graham Spanier and vice president Gary Schultz let Jerry Sandusky sexually abuse boys for 14 years.

And for what? So the good name of a university would not be hurt. Excuse me while I vomit.

That good name and that university are so contaminated right now it would take workers in hazmat suits to clean it all up. In lieu of that, we’ll have to settle for more realistic solutions:

† Long prison terms for those who failed the children. Spanier, Schultz and Curley — all of them in inmate coveralls.

† The suspension of a football program for a school that knowingly allowed the abuse to continue for years.

† The destruction of the campus statue honoring a coach who was more worried about protecting his program’s reputation than protecting victims from a monster.

The only person worse than a child molester is one who harbors a child molester.
And Joe harbored a child molester.

Then he should have resigned. Period.

Of all of the comments stated so far, your observations are probably closest to the truth.

When asked why he didn’t retire a decade or so ago, Joe Paterno stated: “It would leave college football in the hands of the Jackie Sherrills and Barry Switzers”.

“Well nice to be Judge, Jury and Executioner. Stop for a minute. Do any of you know what kind of environment Joe had to deal with in order to go about his job as a coach?”

It’s on record what Joe knew. A person with a moral compas would have done something or quit. I have a daughter in college, and 2 that recently graduated. If they’d been attending Penn State I would have made them transfer or quit. Penn State degree= first thought allowed pedophilia.

And for the next hundred years when somebody submits a resume listing Penn State as their college the first thing the person reading the resume will think about is that Penn State was an institution that condoned the anal rape of children.

Cherry, I am assuming you haven't read this thread.

The report is in .pdf format and is available there.

pretty hard for a dead man to defend himself....

Paterno convicts himself with his own words from beyond the grave. Not only did he know, but he was in contact with the inner circle of the college leadership over the incidents.

paterno knew only peripherally about all this..

Paterno was directly involved. For 14 years, Paterno allowed Sandusky unrestricted access to young boys, using the college athletic building as his own private bathhouse.

Never any care taken for the fate or safety of the boys; Paterno's sole concern was damage control.

Sandusky Blew, And Paterno Knew.

They should immediately waive the one-year rule to sit out for all Penn State players, so they can transfer to other schools.

Many of the comments here sound as if they written by the Prosecution in the Trayvon Martin-Zimmerman case.

Before imposing penalties, perhaps we should wait for the accused individuals to give their side of the story?

Yes, and very sadly, my uncle, who was a zoology professor, died just a few weeks ago. My thoughts- Uncle, Penn State, pedophilia. I’m sure in our gay friendly culture we’ll find a way to diffuse this.

Penn State is no different than all public universities which promote pride in sodomy and do not allow anyone to say negative things about homosexuality. This is just the typical homosexual lifestyle which always is based on pederasty since Ancient Greece and all cultures since forever. Even today—Sandusky acts are normal in Afghanistan (and praised)—just as it was for the Samurai—and Asian countries and ancient Western Civilization. Godless people, or Satanists, defile the body with acts which desecrate the creative force in humans because it makes humans most like God. It is why Satanism/orgies/homosexuality, human sacrifice are so entwined—to desecrate the good and corrupt the young and reduce man to base animal and base urges.

Christianity destroyed the worldview that pederasty was good and put homosexuality in the closet as did Natural Law Theory. Homosexuality is a learned worldview—lifestyle—which is an immature fixation and hatred of half of the human race. Since learned while forming sexual identity—which is corrupted—they fixate on the age when corrupted and seduced. Sandusky was probably sexually abused when a boy also—which doesn’t excuse him.

Any promotion of homosexuality—any “acceptance” of that vile, disgusting, disordered use of the body—is always lust and the promotion of child abuse.

We need to rid the schools of this normalization and promotion of homosexuality which always includes pederasty. It is Satanic and Marxist—since it is Godless, and completely destroys the Christian Ethics which is needed for Constitutional Rights and freedom.

Any schools which promote homosexuality in anyway, supports and teaches Sandusky ethics. Homosexuality is all about the boys—History proves it.

If I can find a couple pom poms, can I be your cheer leader? I could never say it so well.

No, and neither do you. And yet you seek to defend the indefensible. The statue of Paterno should be pulled over just like the folks in Baghdad did the one of Sadam. Since you are a “Pennstater,” you should not have a place at the table telling us just “how tough” this was on good old Joe Pa and your “beloved institution.” Go find something else to watch on TV! Al Pacino had it about right in “The Scent of a Woman,” “someone should take a flamethrower to the place!”

Matt Millen needs to be tarred and feathered.

He put on a sickening display of kissing Joe’s ass from the grave.

Even after the facts and emails from Paterno came out, Millen was talking about his integrity and honor.

We all know now that the Paterno aura of honor and integrity was a facade. When the chips were down, he killed the proposal to turn Sandusky into the authorities. When the chips were down, it was ok for his former DCoordinator to violently rape kids in the shower....and he let it go on and on.

JoePa was legend that never was. He screwed his own legacy as he let Sandusky screw those kids.

There are two things going on here:
1. PSU knew about and condoned Sandusky’s behavior.
2. Protecting the university's reputation was minor; preserving the CASH FLOW was the main reason.

You will never root out the evil at PSU until you kill the root. That root is the cash cow of the PSU sports programs. So, to kill the problem, you kill ALL the sports programs at PSU for 10 years. Let the students transfer elsewhere without prejudice, but fire ALL the coaches and administrative support. Kill sports at PSU for 10 tears. After 10 tears, PSU can apply for reinstatement, but at the rate of one sports program per year. The only way to assure this never happens again is to hurt PSU in what they value the most -- the money coming from their intercollegiate sports programs. Cut of the head of this snake and the rest of the evil body dies.

This place will be lucky to survive as a vocational school once the civil suits are finished.
