The House voted again Wednesday to repeal the 2010 healthcare reform law, giving Republicans some revenge against the late June Supreme Court ruling that found the law to be constitutional.
Members approved the bill in a 244-185 vote, after five hours of debate that stretched over two days.
As expected, just a handful of Democrats supported the GOP repeal bill. Five Democrats, Reps. Dan Boren (Okla.), Larry Kissell (N.C.), Jim Matheson (Utah), Mike McIntyre (N.C.) and Mike Ross (Ark.), sided with Republicans in the final vote. Of this group, all but Matheson voted with the GOP in a procedural vote on the bill Tuesday.

Bella Pelosi and the DNC obviously gave a handful of their fellow RATS permission to vote in favor...tight races.don’t you know. The same will probably be true in the Senate. The people’s opposition means nothing...they know better than we do.Numbers,OTOH,do mean something to them.
Kabuki Theater.
Unfortunately you also need the Senate. Then you need the president to sign it or have a veto proof senate
All for another day. Say January 2013
“RATS permission to vote in favor...tight races.dont you know.”
I don’t this will help the Rat much in those districts especially if the anti-obamacare sentiment is strong.
Anyone have a link to the list of who voted yes/no?
I don’t know about the others, but Dan Boren isn’t running again. He is the only dem in the congressional delegation from OK and almost always votes with the GOP. I heard that he is just fed up with the dem party. His constituents asked him to switch parties, but he declined.
I disagree. This is important. It is theatre to a degree, but effective theatre.
A lot of leadership is theatre. It just is.
“Unfortunately you also need the Senate.”
Sure, but this gives the Republicans ammo for the election: Vote Rpebpublican, save health care and stop the massive tax increase!
Never hurts to have them on record. Stiffens the spine for later when it can count. They don’t want to waffle back and forth...so now they’re on record and less likely to change in the months ahead as a result. They also have to run on this vote, another good thing, the Dems have to run on their vote but so do the R’s. Another reason they can’t waffle now.
It might not.But in a district with a tight race coming up it can't *hurt* to have that "no" vote on the record. The RAT can say "yes,I voted in favor originally but have seen the light".And if,by chance,OsamaObamaCare is the only big beef the voters have with that RAT it just might work.A move of desperation, perhaps, but sometimes "Hail Mary" passes *do* work.
Not when the power where the Hail Mary comes from is against you.
This will only come up in the Senate when Harry Reid is back in the minority. He won’t bring it to the floor for exactly the reasons pointed out in this thread.
The issue, however, is costing them dearly anyway. Look to the recent polling in FL, where Mack is breaking big over Nelson. And that’s just one example.
Well, what to say? This is just a FUTILE effort until we take the Senate and the Presidency OUT of the hands of the Democrats.
As usual, it will die when it reaches the Senate ( and even if it does, you know who holds the veto pen today ).
All for another day. Say January 2013.
Correct. But IMHO, having this vote on the record before the November elections will ENHANCE the chances of being in a position to repeal in January 2013.
It's also why Dingy Harry Reid won't even permit a vote in the Senate now.
You're right -- it's important to keep the issue in the news. I think it might be more effective, though, to vote to repeal in sections, e.g., have a vote to repeal the 16,000 IRS agents one week, a vote to repeal the tax on house sales the next week, etc., etc. Those are the atrocities in it that come immediately to mind, but I'm sure there's lots more. Make the votes "teachable moments" (though I really, really hate that phrase!) because I'm sure many people don't know a lot of the particulars. Hell, a lot of Congress probably don't know the particulars, since none of them read it!
The five Dems who voted with the Republicans are:
Boren (OK)
Kissel (NC)
Matheson(UT)
Ross (AR)
McIntyre (NC)
BRAVE DEMOCRATS...
I hope they have 24/7 Armed protection for their families. The whackos of the left are going to go nuts on them.
Death Threats against opponents kids seems to be the liberal modus operanda today.
