Blame Bush on this one. Once one created this monstrosity the continued assault on one's privacy was entirely predictable. Of course, the stupid people are more worried about whether their drink is "safe" instead of their freedom being eroded.

On a trip from SFO to Munich they tested my 18-month old son’s milk in his sippy cup at SFO.
On the way back, in Munich, I walked onto the plane with two water bottles, a sippy cup, and a 16-ounce bottle of Coke. No issues.

This is such a poorly written story! Have passengers actually been stopped at the gate and had their drinks taken by a TSA agent or did some bored reporter simply wander around a small airport and ask a few people what they thought of such a possibility?
C’mon people - Who, What, When, Where, Why.....

I’m lookng for some way I can become involved in abolishing the TSA. Is there a senator or representative who is working on getting rid of these criminals? Lot’s of them have been arrested while NO terrorists have been arrested.

Before "liquids" were banned going through security, I had a screener once ask me to take a drink of my Mountain Dew soda in front of him to verify that it wasn't something other than Mountain Dew.
It seemed like a reasonable request.

At SFO, was that after you went through security?
What kind of test was done?

My wife, son, and me went through the metal detector (shoes off and all of that), put all our stuff on the rollers for the x-ray machine, and went over to pick up our stuff.
While picking up our belongins, a male TSA agent took my son’s sippy cup and went over to a machine towards the end of the security section. It was some kind of “sniffer” and they asked me what was in the cup. I told him milk and they put it in the machine to make sure it was milk. Then he gave us back the cup and we left security.

Follow the money. TSA wants to buy new equipment for testing drinks. It will cost millions. Which politician/s have recently invested in a company that makes such a machine? Anytime these anti-4th Amendment TSA pedophiles “need” something new, somebody on the public payroll makes big money in the process.

Correct answer: After you boil your mouth, of course something like you may have a sip.
Or, you may ask to have a small amount poured into a cup.
Think I am be denigratory? Just look at the average TSAThingie? Then decide yourself.

Wrong. Any ANY good idea can be corrupted. Going after radical Muslims was a good idea... The perversion of that idea by corrupt democrats - a perversion to change that safety precaution into an excuse to harrass American citizens is NOT what Bush or any of us would have chosen.
TSA and Homeland Insecurity ARE DEMOCRAT perversions ...

When leaving El Salvador, I purchased some rather costly souvenirs after going through security. When it came time to board, they insisted on searching me AGAIN, and went through my purchases. That was Okay, but then they shoved and pushed me onto the plane without returning my souvenirs. I never saw them again. Nice scam they've got going there.

I don’t think the TSA agent was the one that was going to taste the drink. They would not ask that.

Why didn't you want to take a drink of your soda in front of the screener?
Or did you mean to write:
[...] I had a screener once ask me to if he could take a drink of my Mountain Dew soda in front of him to verify that it wasnt something other than Mountain Dew. [...]

I DID read post #2 - as well as the follow-up by the same poster, who indicated that the testing of the sippy cup happened at the initial security checkpoint, which is nothing new.
This story implies that there are now TSA agents in the terminals, stopping people before they board the plane, checking beverages that were purchased in the secured section of the airport. THAT is totally new and I was trying to verify if it is in fact happening or if this is just a conjecture piece. I travel frequently and have never seen a TSA agent past the security screening point.
I would love to see TSA totally disbanded. It is a worthless government funded boondoggle that has done nothing to improve airline safety....however, that doesn't change the fact that this is a poorly written story that doesn't really convey any hard data or actual incidences of TSA agents roaming terminals, looking for drinks to test!
