Passengers say their problems is not with rules at the airport. They understand why drinks are not allowed through security, but when they buy one while they wait for their flight, they say the TSA shouldn't ask to test it.
Passengers say traveling is a big enough stress, but now some are worried the drinks they are getting are not safe.

On a trip from SFO to Munich they tested my 18-month old son’s milk in his sippy cup at SFO.
On the way back, in Munich, I walked onto the plane with two water bottles, a sippy cup, and a 16-ounce bottle of Coke. No issues.
This is such a poorly written story! Have passengers actually been stopped at the gate and had their drinks taken by a TSA agent or did some bored reporter simply wander around a small airport and ask a few people what they thought of such a possibility?
C’mon people - Who, What, When, Where, Why.....
I’m lookng for some way I can become involved in abolishing the TSA. Is there a senator or representative who is working on getting rid of these criminals? Lot’s of them have been arrested while NO terrorists have been arrested.
It seemed like a reasonable request.
At SFO, was that after you went through security?
What kind of test was done?
My wife, son, and me went through the metal detector (shoes off and all of that), put all our stuff on the rollers for the x-ray machine, and went over to pick up our stuff.
While picking up our belongins, a male TSA agent took my son’s sippy cup and went over to a machine towards the end of the security section. It was some kind of “sniffer” and they asked me what was in the cup. I told him milk and they put it in the machine to make sure it was milk. Then he gave us back the cup and we left security.
Follow the money. TSA wants to buy new equipment for testing drinks. It will cost millions. Which politician/s have recently invested in a company that makes such a machine? Anytime these anti-4th Amendment TSA pedophiles “need” something new, somebody on the public payroll makes big money in the process.
Why don’t you see post #2?
They can taste my drink but the better not bogart it! Also, no backwash, please!
“Before “liquids” were banned going through security, I had a screener once ask me to take a drink of my Mountain Dew soda in front of him to verify that it wasn’t something other than Mountain Dew.”
Correct answer: After you boil your mouth, of course something like you may have a sip.
Or, you may ask to have a small amount poured into a cup.
Think I am be denigratory? Just look at the average TSAThingie? Then decide yourself.
Sure TSA Officer...this is “Lemonade” LOL....Take a sip!
TSA and Homeland Insecurity ARE DEMOCRAT perversions ...
That pretty standard procedure for bringing liquids through security. thanx
I don’t think the TSA agent was the one that was going to taste the drink. They would not ask that.
Sounds like a reasonable request.
Why didn't you want to take a drink of your soda in front of the screener?
Or did you mean to write:
[...] I had a screener once ask me to if he could take a drink of my Mountain Dew soda in front of him to verify that it wasnt something other than Mountain Dew. [...]
Regards,
This story implies that there are now TSA agents in the terminals, stopping people before they board the plane, checking beverages that were purchased in the secured section of the airport. THAT is totally new and I was trying to verify if it is in fact happening or if this is just a conjecture piece. I travel frequently and have never seen a TSA agent past the security screening point.
I would love to see TSA totally disbanded. It is a worthless government funded boondoggle that has done nothing to improve airline safety....however, that doesn't change the fact that this is a poorly written story that doesn't really convey any hard data or actual incidences of TSA agents roaming terminals, looking for drinks to test!
I seriously doubt this will happen.
