This is such a poorly written story! Have passengers actually been stopped at the gate and had their drinks taken by a TSA agent or did some bored reporter simply wander around a small airport and ask a few people what they thought of such a possibility?

When leaving El Salvador, I purchased some rather costly souvenirs after going through security. When it came time to board, they insisted on searching me AGAIN, and went through my purchases. That was Okay, but then they shoved and pushed me onto the plane without returning my souvenirs. I never saw them again. Nice scam they've got going there.

Orange County, CA...you may drink up until the time you get to TSA, then you have to throw it away.
But don’t worry, you can then pass through the line and stand in another long line to buy something for the flight.
Hoping against hope you don’t miss your flight.
I admit that that was in 2009, the LAST time I’ve flown.
