U.N. could tax U.S. - based Web sites, leaked docs show

Global Internet tax suggested by European network operators ... is proposed for debate at a U.N. agency in December.

The documents (No. 1 No. 2) punctuate warnings that the Obama administration and Republican members of Congress raised last week about how secret negotiations at the ITU over an international communications treaty could result in a radical re-engineering of the Internet ecosystem and allow governments to monitor or restrict their citizens' online activities.

The leaked documents were posted by the Web site WCITLeaks...

Robert McDowell, a Republican member of the Federal Communications Commission who wrote an article (PDF) in the Wall Street Journal in February titled "The U.N. Threat to Internet Freedom," appeared to reference the ETNO's proposal for Internet taxes during last week's congressional hearing.

They could also allow "governments to monitor and restrict content or impose economic costs upon international data flows," added Ambassador Philip Verveer, a deputy assistant secretary of state.

No taxation without representation! Any politician who agrees to this is a traitor.

I find such a thing hard to believe — but all I can say is that we have a lot of lamp posts and a lot of rope. They can tax those things too, but we’ll still buy ‘em and use ‘em.

I don’t think Obama and the rest of the Dems would be stupid enough to endorse this publicly but if they did, they would be finished politically.

DEFUND socialist collectives, foreign and domestic. This includes UNaccountable bureaucracies and their bureaucrats (more socialism).

“Socialism Is Legal Plunder”

“It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.”

“Above all, if you wish to be strong, begin by rooting out every particle of socialism that may have crept into your legislation. This will be no light task.”

Quotes - Frederic Bastiat 1801-1850

DEPOPULATE socialists from the body politic. Barack Obama is a socialist.

“The ITU’s process has been controversial because so much of it is conducted in secret. That’s drawn unflattering comparisons with the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, or ACTA, an international intellectual property agreement that has generated protests from Internet users across the world. (The Obama administration approved ACTA in 2011, before anyone outside the negotiations had a chance to review it.) “

I say even though the UN and Gen Assy buildings are excellent examples of mid 20th century archirecture, throw the bums out of this VIP lounge for dictators and knock it down. Then sell the site to Donald Trump and let him negotiate with the Mowhaks and the NFL to build a casino and stadium so we can bring the Jets and Giants back to NYC where they belong!

Secretary Bolton had a great opportunity to kill the UN but did NOTHING. I am so disgusted with his non work during his tenur that it makes me sad when people say what a great guy he is......A good guy would have cleaned house and got rid of the UN or at least do SOMETHING.
