He also struck down a provision that barred the state from deducting dues from the paychecks of those who chose to join unions.
This needs to be appealed if it hasn't been already. This should not be allowed to continue, not only in Wisconsin, but anywhere in this country, IMO.

Your headline is misleading.
It reads as if the members have no choice.

It seems like a reasonable half-way measure to me. The dues would only be deducted, from those who chose to allow the deductions. That sounds no different than (voluntary) payroll deductions for charitable donations.

Two to the body and one to the head.
Wisconsin now has right to carry laws for self defense.

State unions were dealt a setback Friday when a federal judge said they would have to get their members to opt in, rather than opt out, to having the state deduct union dues from their paychecks. Sweet!
Suck it you union thugs!

If ANY entity can forcibly take money from an individual for services not rendered that is total BS.
It's just like property taxes paid for school districts for education when many privately educate their children or home school.
Years ago when I hired on to the railroad I opted out of the union and was informed by my boss that if I refused to join he had no choice but to replace me and send me home.
Creeping tyranny.

There are several lawsuits pending regarding this, all filed in Madison courts of course. The most important imo is the requirement that the state government has to deduct the dues from paychecks and send the money to the unions. This judge didn’t address that.
There are so many cases pending in Dane county (Madison) that I can’t keep them all straight.

Make a state law prohibiting the use of state funds, personnel, or computers for the purpose of collecting or distributing union dues.

Union dues should be paid BY THE MEMBER after they cash their checks.

That’s how/why I joined the IAM. Thugs, all.

“everything should be opt-in, not opt-out.”
And the only info available to the union should be the $ in dues paid, not who paid the money.
