The IDF has issued emergency call up orders to six reserve battalions in light of new dangers on the Egyptian and Syrian borders. And the Knesset has given the IDF permission to summon a further 16 reserve battalions if necessary, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

“This signifies that the IDF regards the Egyptian and Syrian borders as the potential source of a greater threat than in the past,” the former deputy chief of staff, Dan Harel, said on Wednesday night.

“The army needs a better ‘answer’ than in the past to the threat,” he said, citing Egypt’s deteriorating control over the Sinai, marked by an upsurge in Bedouin smuggling of weapons and other goods. He also spoke of the growing threat of terrorism from Sinai, as exemplified by an infiltration last August in which eight Israelis were killed.

The Syrian situation was also highly combustible, Harel said, “and it could explode at any moment… and pose a direct challenge to us.”

Maariv said the army had to decide whether to cancel training sessions for enlisted soldiers or to summon additional reserve units, and it chose the latter; canceling training would mean soldiers would not be prepared in the case of an all-out war.

William Tecumseh Sherman, Sir Arthur Harris, and many others would have been prosecuted for war crimes in this day and age.

The Brits were saying this in 1941 about bombing Germany:

Maybe you haven't actually read the Bible. While The Lord probably won't let the Jewish people be destroyed, when The Lord wanted to make a point to the Jewish people, The Lord DID allow Israel to be defeated, on a number of occasions.

And I'd like to mention that the Jewish people helped elect Obama as POTUS with overwhelming numbers, I'm ashamed to say.

As I recall, Curtis Lamay said that had the allies lost the war, he would have been prosecuted for "war crimes" as well.

There was a show on PBS talking about the bombing of Germany, that discussed the decisions made by Harris, LeMay, and others, and one of the analysts/historians said that on the allied side, the only crime greater than the bombing of civilian Germans would have been losing the war to Germany.

Surprisingly insightful comment that summed it up nicely. It's very hard for those opposed to the bombing to argue with that logic.

I am just as unhappy as you about the division of the Korean peninsula caused by Truman firing MacArthur, but I can understand his concern about a full-blown Third World War if we engaged Mao's armies directly. We know much more today about the weakness of the respective positions of Mao, Stalin and Kim than we did in the early 1950s.

But let's for a moment grant that Truman was right. If so, then just what does Obama think could happen that is forcing us to fight a limited war now? Seems to me the best argument for encouraging the Israelis to make a full-scale attack now is to **PREVENT** a much bigger war later.

The USA has trained an army ( under the guise of calling them police) on the West Bank, Obama just donated 183 million to Palestine which will be used to buy arms.

Yes Israel may soon attack Iran, she has to. It will be Obama’s leftist shining moment , which could well annouce WW III.
