A racially charged beating of a white Alabama man by a throng of African-Americans is not being investigated as a hate crime, despite one witness' claim that she heard an assailant exclaim: "Now that's justice for Trayvon."
Matthew Owens, of Mobile, Ala., was assaulted with baseball bats, paint cans and other weapons at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after telling a group of children to stop playing basketball in the middle of Delmar Drive, according to Ashley Rains, public information officer for the Mobile Police Department.
After the children left the area, a group of adults armed with weapons returned and confronted Owens, 40, in his front yard, where he was assaulted. Owens' sister, Ashley Parker, told WKRG she witnessed the attack and that there were as many as 20 assailants. Parker said she overheard one of them say, "Now that's justice for Trayvon."
Asked if the incident was being investigated as a hate crime, Rains replied: "No, it's not. It's being investigated as an assault."

I heard on Laura Ingraham’s show today that neighbors saw this happen but are afraid to give any details to the police. They think if they do that they will be next in line for a beating.
I’d tell everything and carry a gun. Of course if I saw it happening there would probably be several dead youths.
LOL at the Admins.
I somehow have managed to avoid their wrath.
Even as we speak I know “60 Minutes” has called back Mike Wallace from the dead for a special presentation on how the “Negroes Righteously Sacrificed and Assaulted Numerous Caucasians in Their Quest for Well Deserved Reparations”, (Monetarily of course)
It’s a terribly sad situation, Terry.
I believe that under stand your ground laws one could use deadly force in that situation because another person’s life is in clear danger, but I don’t want to test my freedom and financial well being considering our current administration.
Furthermore, if one did fire on them, no doubt some would survive, they would sue, and they would likely seek revenge.
Also, firing a round or two into the air could kill an innocent person, and so could firing into the ground, because occassionally a bullet can ricochet off the ground instead of penetrating it.
The only course of action I can see at this time is to avoid black people at all costs.
Race relations are not only damaged now, they are poisoned.
I wonder if a local prosecutor can ‘refer’ a case for possible “hate crime” charges. Those would be federal charges that require a federal prosecutor to charge. Eric Holder is not going to bring a case against “his people.” But then even Republican A-G’s failed to bring cases in the past.
after telling a group of children to stop playing basketball in the middle of Delmar Drive,
Bet on racism accusations being made against him for that.
He must have "dissed" the neighborhood kids playing baskeball on his street thereby hurting their self-esteem. That calls for an 'automatic' beat down. Trayvon attempted to deliver one, he just picked the wrong guy. This crowd found a softer target.
Nice job, President Healer.
Owens’ sister, Ashley Parker, told WKRG she witnessed the attack and that there were as many as 20 assailants. Parker said she overheard one of them say, “Now that’s justice for Trayvon.”
Yes, if 20 whites beat on a black, no matter for what reason, it would be considered a hate crime, even if no words were said. But if the black persons sister said one of the attackers said something racist, would we believe her? Or disregard what she says because she was his sister?
Two things....one, I’ve got a car I want to sell and I’m afraid to put a “for sale” sign on the car. All I’d be doing is inviting a home invasion.
Several years ago I was trying to sell a house for a builder. It was the last house for sell on the cul de sac. On weekends a bunch of blacks would set up a portable goal and be in front of the house playing b-ball. There was no way you were going to sell that house. I don’t know if they ever sold it.
“OBAMA: There is not a liberal America and a conservative America. There is the United States of America. There is not a black America and a white America and Latino America and Asian America. There’s the United States of America.
(Larry) KING: How were you picked?
OBAMA: You know, I have never exactly figured that out.”
People believed 0bama enough to trust him with the stewardship of the Republic.
It wasn’t the yutes. They left and went and told the adults. The adults came back and beat the guy for pointing out to the yutes they aren’t supposed to be playing b-ball in the street.
There may come a time in the very near future when we’re all forced to decide whether or not to get involved .... with our firearms.
“They” aren’t going to “do anything”; you’re on your own and have been for a long time.
Too bad his wife was not well versed with a street sweeper and willing to use it to save her husband...
Do I think it, or would the media think it? Different questions.
And obama doesn’t say one, single word about this. He’s too busy kissing up to the students in Chapel Hill about how he and M are just as poor as they are. I notice he doesn’t give any WH pressers anymore. At all.
Worst. President. Ever.
‘Suspect: I Beat Up White Man Because I Am Mad About Trayvon Martin Case”
Man, 78, recounts assault by 6 youths in E. Toledo
, “[Get] that white [man]. This is for Trayvon ... Trayvon lives, white [man]. Kill that white [man],” according to a police report”
I heard on Laura Ingrahams show today that neighbors saw this happen but are afraid to give any details to the police. They think if they do that they will be next in line for a beating.
Natural reaction, and thats why things like this happen. The thugs knew that neighbors would just sit and watch the beat down.
You gotta be fuc*ing kidding me with this?!?!?!?
“I have personal insight into this incident. It had nothing to do with kids playing basketball or racial slurs.
Several neighborhood kids were going into his neighbors yard and carports who were away. He told the kids to put the items back and get off the neighbors property.
The kids left. Several minutes later, numerous cars pulled up and the occupants set upon Mr. Owens. The group consisted of adult male and females and children.
As they were leaving they were overheard sayin “This is for Travon”
The press has “their” stories wrong and need to correct it and stop trying to paint in a way to allow for justification of attempted murder against Mr.Owens.”
Bump for later
Aw man, you have me rolling!!!
I just got a text from NC about him.
If I witness an assault like that I'm shooting every last one of them.
Just like Marquette Park in Chicago. The ethnic Lithuanians still left cannot sell their houses, and have to stand by while Holder’s people walk in and take whatever they want. I know a few people were shot in the head by Holder’s thugs, simply because of their color.
Another witness has come forward now, and has stated that one of the attackers uttered the, “This is Justice for Trayvon” line:
“...Police continue to downplay the Trayvon Martin connection to the beating. But a neighbor confirms what his sister told News 5. The neighbor, too scared to go on camera, told News 5’s Lauren Vargas that they heard one of the suspects say “This is justice for Trayvon” as she drove away.”
That's right! Because the white ************ ******* deserved it, yo!
< / s >
“No suspects have been apprehended following the Mobile incident.”
And thanks to the “affirmative action” Mobile, AL Police Chief, none of “his” people will be apprehended, much less charged. Count on it. Matt Owens will just have to get used to it: equal justice does not apply to whites.
If the roles were reversed then it would absolutely be considered a hate crime simply because it would be white on black.
So it shouldn’t matter if anyone shouted anything about Trayvon or not. The fact that it was a black mob beating a white person should be enough to assume it was a racially motivated hate crime. Hate crime laws are a bad idea to begin with for several reasons, one of which is that that will eventually lead to the criminalization of speech.
But if we are going to have them, then a blatant example like this should be treated as such.
