Newt Gingrich held A Town Hall style event at Louisiana Tech Student Center, Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, Louisiana.

That was a terrific Town Hall!
I liked the students’ questions and the very detailed Newt’s answers. Please, watch it!

I’m 5 minutes into the Town Hall wondering how we ended up with Romney and Santorum.
I am listening to him- now on question one.
We need Newt.
We need Newt.
I hope Newt stays in Government and runs for Governor of Georgia. I think he would be good there and would win there most likely. Since he is no longer running for President that might be an opportunity to begin setting up a campaign there.
“Im 5 minutes into the Town Hall wondering how we ended up with Romney and Santorum.”
Frankly, I don’t KNOW.
Gingrich is so obviously above them, that I cannot believe any conservative could vote for the other two.
Sometimes I think those voters must have been lobotomized ...
My old alma mater. saw Hubert Humphrey speak there in 1972. wow that was incredible (sarcasm)
They say Newt only has 12% support in the polls. This is the problem with our country, only 12% of the people are thinking. The rest are uninformed and ignorant.
“Since he is no longer running for President.....”
You need to take your loony b/s and stuff it.
Yes, that was excellent.
At about the 25 minute mark, he had me laughing at his responses regarding Mr. Ricky Saintorum.
It is beyond me why any so called conservative is against this man. Newt is what our country needs right now.
** President Newt Gingrich-”Our beloved republic deserves nothing less.”
I thought you were ignoring me. Man you are a flip flopper. Now wonder you love Romney and Newt.
I ask that question every time I hear him speak : |
Problem is, the StateRunMedia does a very good job of simply not reporting his speeches, and Romney and Santorum wave off on the debates which effectively does the same thing. Add to that, the unfortunate reality that a lot of Americans today do not have the attention span to actually LISTEN to what the man is saying.
He seems to have matured into a very intelligent, quick witted, good natured man, and it saddens me greatly that it appears that the electorate still has not learned to research the candidates, or even listen to them, electing instead to go for the central casting types who tell them whatever they want to hear : |
May God guide our course.
Tatt
Just listened. Truly excellent presentation.
35 minutes I think you’ll appreciate:

It's not like the Founders didn't warn us, they didn't put a right to vote in the Constitution for a REASON.
The Republic was mortally wounded in 1865, and drawn and quartered in 1920 with the passage of the 19th Amendment.
Whats going on now is just death rattle.
I am convinced that American voters are not as aware of Newt's magnificent record as Speaker and his amazing ideas as a candidate for president. We will lose the opportunity to elect the greatest president since Reagan ...sad time for the USA.
Newt is on Sean Hannity at 9:30 pm tonight.
The universal suffrage is the culprit.
I would attach the privilege (not a “right”) to vote to each person’s personal IQ. Under a low limit - say 95 - one cannot vote.
Naps is a strong advocate for his guy. I think he’s off base most times, but he seems decent.
Thanks, TBF.
I rarely watch TV, but I’ll do that for Newt.
IQ. Under a low limit - say 95 - one cannot vote.

I’ve just been disenfranchised......
LOL!
Thanks for the support. That is true. I really like Santorum as he was my Senator for 12 years. He is a great person and to see disparaging words against him is sad. Newt although a good guy would NOT have been acceptable to these supporters even two years ago. You should see the threads about Newt on Free Republic when he first announced, it was atrocious. Marguerite talked about me without pinging me is surprising and against Free Republic views. She knows that too.
Gingrich needs to get his Las Vegas backer to fork up some money, and do some 30 minute national spots to get his message out. His message is brilliant, but no one is hearing it.
Ive just been disenfranchised......
Me, too, I almost made the cut...
Marguerite is decent too naps. In fact the vast majority here are. This has been a brutal primary.
stop bragen
Hey, guys, I can lower the threshold to 90, but that’s all ;-))
This has been a brutal primary.
From your lips to God’s ears. Heck of a lot of decent, honest, intelligent conservatives at each others throats this time around.
I was only reading FR for news/info in the 08 primary, not participating, but it was no where near as bad, IIRC.
Newt always gives an interesting speech, BUT why would he turn over the podium to Callista so she could answer the arts question?
Funding the arts is not a need this country MUST have right now! Let the liberals pay for it out of pocket instead of using tax payer dollars!
I have nothing against Marguerite. I like her passion and dedication to who she believes will be the best President. It has been a brutal primary and the reason is that we want to beat Obama so badly but two groups think their guy is the one to do this. Both groups are great but just have different opinions. Both groups would support Rick or Newt IMHO if they are so lucky to get the nomination. I love everyone at Free Republic. I dish out a lot so I expect to be pushed back. Have a good one!
My home town!
Sorry if I’ve been harsh on you.
It’s nothing personal.
I get depressed when I think how we can recover when the populace is so dumbed down that all they want is bread and circuses. But FR cheers me up. There IS a remnant and you guys are it!
“There IS a remnant and you guys are it!”
See, it’s easy for me to set the threshold, as my IQ is 139 :))
I am sorry too. It has been a tough primary. When I say I love your passion, I mean it. It means that you have character and believe in Newt. Hopefully Newt can win Texas. I sincerely hope he does. This Romney character is just plain scary. Have a great night and I wish you the best FRiend.
Have a good time there!
I so agree....you are not alone by any means....I have said this will be my last election if either Santorum or Romney get in. It'll be time then to prepare for what's coming...and to secure what's possible befor ethe ship goes down.
Newt's the only man who can stop this insanity......only God can step in at this juncture....On to the Convention!!!!
Start with elevating your standards to the higher level of Conservative Freepers here on Free Republic. Begin by leaving out your not very well disguised vulgar comments and ad hominems in the many posts we have had to remove today.
Thanks.
No, we can step in at this juncture. Newt is being jammed out of media coverage. So make your own media.
1. Get your favorite newt video
2. or make one yourself on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/create OR www.youtube.com/t/creators_corner
3. Make some Newt stationary, invite 3 or 4 people over to watch a Newt vid. Leave your invitations on their porch, or in their apartment or condo lobby, or send in snail or email.
4. Give a little talk at the beginning, why you support Newt, keep it simple.
5. show your vid, with a few snacks, something simple.
4. Have some Newt info to give to them. flyers, brochures, etc.
6. Then make a plea for them to get involved.
Some will say yes, right then and there. Others will say they'll get back to you, others might say no right there on the spot.
Keep a little calendar and follow up on the undecided in a week or so.
Create your own Newt media. the campaign has its own problems right now. Step up and double down.
My first newt party was 2 people, both were my best friends, just humoring me.
For the last debate, I had to reserve the banquet room at a local restaurant to handle all my Newt converts.
We have to do this ourselves. If it's not important enough to get off the couch, then it's not important enough, and let obama or romney have it.
As evidenced here on FR, it is very doubtful any Santorum supporters are going to change their minds, they want a saint for president, and think they have one in Santorum.
But there are plenty of open-minded people out there, not even engaged or paying attention yet. They are ripe for Newt picking.
Any help I can give you, just ask.
Am already quite active.....making phone calls...speaking out in clusters I run into throughout the day at work...and passing along videos as well as other endeavors....Newt’s site has been of great help in getting info etc.
Yes, we have to get the message out...and I think many are attempting to do just that....but it will still require the hand of God to bring the success we hope for....especially with the Gideon Army we have who are willing to do the footwork.
LA Freeper ping in case folks want to listen.
Thanks for the LA list
Oh, I had a good sense you already were, just from reading your stuff here... but I thought you might want to urge others, or even branch out in a new direction, if you hadn't already...
but it will still require the hand of God to bring the success we hope for....
we are deep into we need a miracle territory, I know.
I get a little shaky on nights like tonight, but I think He will make a way for Newt and for us, and for America.
Thank you for all you do for Newt, and your unique insights on this board...
For later viewing. One of my old stomping grounds.
Niether of those two can beat Buckwheat.
I love what Newt said at the end about the arts being sustainable with a good economy.
My heart aches for the common sense Newt offers.
I wasn’t offended by Callista’s comments. She’s a musician and active art patron and thinks it’s a travesty that the arts have been dropped in schools. I agree. She and Newt LOVE the arts with all their hearts and DO NOT believe in gov art subsidies. I’d love to see how she would advocate the arts as First Lady.
Houston’s economy is reflected by the growth of the arts in their city. Improve the economy and cities can afford more culcha.
Bump!
