"...So the hundred or so distributors, along with refineries who sell to them...."

I am not talking about the "hundred or so distributors"....

Read my post again. I am talking about the narrow few who set the prices and sell to the distributors.

Why is it so hard to envision a *meeting* amongst those narrow few...?

The 150 different refineries? Plus the refineries in Mexico and Canada that sell across the border. Plus the blending terminal that import motor gasoline blending products?

Why do you imagine they have this ability but never used it before?

WOW
Can I ask you a question without you being offended?

Why do you live out there?
My wife is from MA and after living up there I got her out saying our money through taxes was going to helping liberals and their agenda plus our vote never really counts.
I did a lot of research and found this place where I live now and she loves it and we know our vote helps plus we have so much more freedom.

Are you tied down in a job?
I only ask as I could never live there plus as beautiful as CA seem the politics there would drive me nuts.

I spend 7 months a year in Scottsdale, AZ and around 4 in Cal. There is still much more business for me in Cal than in AZ. I am self employed. I vote in AZ.

Obama cares nothing about voters. He is counting on the counters.

The left signaled its intent to steal a future presidential election by its projection of massive fraud and theft on Bush in 2000. The point of all the drama and absurdity was to innoculate the populace against recognizing and reacting to actual fraud. Legitimate concerns and investigations of fraud would merely conjure up the image of the googly-eyed chad hunter.

The booster shot was the injection of a dark-skinned candidate. Got a problem with Black Panther thugs keeping watch at your polling place? You must be a racist.

"...Why do you imagine they have this ability but never used it before?...."

Because they are being told to do so by their owners.....

The owners, regardless of their number, have a vested interest in overturning a political machine that prohibits them from increasing domestic production and increasing their market share in the global market. That is my point.

Why is it such a stretch for you to imagine that this couldn't take place? I don't think it's such a stretch at all....

Somehow I don't see the collusion between the Israeli owned Alon and the Saudi owned Motiva refineries, beside all the others.

Have your imaginary conspiracy theories, I live and work in the real world.

I remember 2008 when McCain was well ahead in the polls then the bottom dropped out.

I do too, but the bottom didn't drop out by accident. Any of the current three leaders is far more adept and attractive than the bumbling incompetent McCain, who shot himself in the head in September 08.

So do I. You still don't see that there is a difference between the people that sell us oil and the people that market the oil here on our shores.

Tell you what: if I am right, we will see gas prices start to fall right after the November elections.

If not, I was wrong. How's that...?

You would be able to tell soon than that. Gasoline prices would need to move higher separate from crude oil prices first.

If gasoline prices fell after the elections but crude oil prices were falling as well, it would not prove your imagination correct.

You have never tried to answer the question, if they have the ability and control to raise gasoline prices separate from crude oil, why wasn't it done before? Also, why would it ever go back down?

And you, sir, continue to miss my point entirely.

Once again: assuming they have the ability and control to raise gasoline prices arbitrarily (my assumption)...it wasn't done before because the need to remove a sitting President who is killing a major sector of the US economy has never arisen before. The oil companies have the power to do this because they can alter public perception of a presidency by simply charging a fortune at the pump...right before a presidential election.

I have always been inclined to follow the money...

So you claim the oil companies have the power to generate more money by arbitrarily raising prices. And they haven't done this before to make more money.

And they will do it now, because oil prices are so high globally (making those oil companies, what poor) and that they want to end the high prices.

A company like ExxonMobil makes about 75% of its revenue outside of the US.

"...So you claim the oil companies have the power to generate more money by arbitrarily raising prices...."

Missed my point once again, pal....

The point of the exercise is to remove a sitting president as the primary goal. By removing the obstacle to increased production, they would then have the production means to bring more to the market.

Get it?

The point of the exercise is to remove a sitting president as the primary goal.

So, because this president has contributed to raising global oil prices, companies that make most of their money outside the US (ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco for just a couple examples) are going to work together to remove the president to lower global oil prices.

they would then have the production means to bring more to the market

Those same companies you think want this president gone, are the companies making money importing oil from outside the US.

I am sure some, maybe many of the companies want him gone for access to more domestic production. I do not believe ALL the companies hold this position and your imaginary game requires ALL of them to work together in secrecy for it to work.

Get it?

Get your basis for your imaginary game? No.

Get the real world oil industry that I have worked in for a couple decades? Yes.

Romney has been selected as the GOP candidate. Obama and crew are going to play the race card against Romney’s Mormonism. That’s the plan. By the time they’re finished with Romney the election will be a landslide for Obama. That’s why they are not worried. It’s all a done deal.
