Obama: Soldiers in Afghanistan Must Be Fired Upon to Receive Combat Pay
Big Peace ^ | 2/11/12 | John Bernard

While I understand that only a fraction of the population of this nation is directly affected by what you are about to read, I would never-the-less like to remind you that the remainder of the population is affected coincidentally. While the majority of the American population probably never even considered the Armed Forces as a possible career objective, there are those who never considered life without serving their country, in uniform, on a field of combat. Most of these young men and women never take the time to internalize some idealized vision of charging death for God and Country,

So I guess Obama doesn’t consider getting blown up by an IED actual combat?

Said the CIC — of course I disagree with the requirement.

Whatever he is or whatever he is not, he is the wet dream come true for the majority of those that voted on november 4, 2008.

prayers up for the neph.

Oh and I will state for the record I recvd combat zone pay when we ported (navy vet here) in the PI because the communist guerillas were acting up in the early 90s and I thought it was a farce - since I have tried to make amends for this fiasco as I felt it was an injustice for what it was intended. However, this boots on the ground denigration of our boys is beyond repulsive.

Another outrage from the Obama Regime! As in Vietnam, the concept of "front lines" is irrelevant. All who have boots on the ground in Afghan are serving in a combat role. There is no "rear echelon" in a war where the enemy uses IED's and so-called "suicide bombers" at any time, anywhere in the theatre.

Combat pay is a portion of the Defense budget that is,or should be, awarded to any of our troops who are placed in harm's way in a theatre of combat, whether they are fired upon or not.

If the Obama Regime wants to save a few nickels, let it pursue some of the rampant welfare fraud and bloated social programs that do nothing other than suck tax dollars out of the hard-working middle class that keeps our economy going.

Etiam non princeps sed usque ad genua, Principis Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

I can see the time cards now. Next it will be the amount of firing against the soldier, what type of firing, and if it was friendly fire or not. What a farce.

Ya know, John Kerry was wounded in Viet Nam.

Hahahaha...yeah, Old “Duck and Cover”HC should be reimbursed...that little girl giving her the flowers on the runway could have given her a nasty butterburn from those Daisys she was giving her...

Our son returned from Afghanistan in June, 2011. Thankfully, he was whole, physically, but suffered a severe concussion when an IED took the 25 year old Platoon Leader’s legs and shattered his right arm. Our son was thrown back and hit his head. Our wonderful son had the presence of mind to be first to rush to his wounded friend and began First Aid. This was three weeks from coming home. When he first came home he was very emotionally damaged from PTSD. At Christmas when he came home he was better. The news last night is the Platoon leader is walking with prosthetic legs and Thank God his arm healed. Please keep prayers coming. This kind of change in policy is why we have to be resolute and make sure that Obama retires to private life on January 20, 3013!!!

Yep. One more reason my kid is getting out.

Too bad, because he's half-way to retirement.

Plenty of money for cell phones, bankrupt car companies, failing banks, phoney green energy jobs that disappear, and cowboy poetry festivals but he’s cutting combat pay. He’s about as low as you can get.

This has been the stupidest time in my life. If this jack-ass gets back in office after November, I will be very disappointed in my Country.

My nephew just arrived there, for, I think, a 6 month TDY.

IIRC, Slick Willy had tried something similar with combat pay and the award of CIBs and combat patches to personnel in Somalia prior to October '93, refusing to admit that our personnel were involved in any combat.

After October 3rd that year, it became impossible to deny.

My nephew was home on leave in October when my mother died and he seemed normal. He’s a spook so sits in a room somewhere listening mostly, or whatever spooky things spooks do. But he was being sent out on patrols, too. He’s just a low ranking enlisted puke so who knows. If he told me what he was doing over there he’d probably have to kill me so I don’t ax.

If he gets re-elected, millions will be disgusted beyond words and we will see frustrations and deep anger expressed in many ways. People who love their country don’t go lightly into the night when it is being destroyed before their eyes.
