Mitt Romney won the presidential straw poll Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, an unofficial endorsement from party activists that nevertheless helps the former Massachusetts governor burnish his conservative image.
The Republican presidential candidate won with 38 percent of the vote at the Washington conference, the leading annual meet-up of American conservatives. The victory breaks a two-year winning streak by Ron Paul.

Establishment. Means nothing.
We already knew the establishment was in for Romney.
CPAC is now the Big Gov’t Statist convention. We are screwed with a two party system.
Straw polls are worth as much as the paper they are written on.
Romney is known for packing in his supporters.
Must mean the new spelling of liberal is Cliberal.
Means nothing like all straw polls.
I think that CPAC has a few problems, not the least of which is that it is libertarians that win more votes year after year...not conversvatives. I like some of the blogs that won TEA Party awards, but more than one is not conservative, just anti-DemocRAT.
How does this jive with the cool reception he was said to have received?
Ya know what? At this point I think all the numbers might just be coming from somebody’s rear end. The poll numbers, the vote numbers, everything. What would stop somebody from just making this stuff up, like Manuel Zelaya did in Honduras? None of it makes sense.
Still, 58% voted against him. We’re still splitting the conservative vote.
No Surprise - the voters listened intently to the prior-day speeches, and voted for the most conservative. It was an easy choice, given that one candidate in particular was saying severely so.
How many delegates does CPAC have?
(This is a rhetorical question.)
The headline should be 58% of CPAC said anyone but Romney!!
According to this clip, Mitt got a standing o at one point. I think Santorum received an even bigger one, and multiple standing o’s during his remarks... for what it’s worth...
I’ve been to three CPACs; 1978, 1979, and 2009. In ‘09 I voted for Palin in the straw poll but half the attendees did not cast a vote and Palin finished way back.
