WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department has provided Congress with 1,364 pages of documents detailing how the department gave inaccurate information to a U.S. senator in the controversy surrounding Operation Fast and Furious, the flawed law enforcement initiative aimed at dismantling major arms trafficking networks on the Southwest border.

In a letter last February to Charles Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Justice Department said that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms had not knowingly allowed the sale of assault weapons to a straw purchaser

Just to remind everybody Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean were prosecuted by Justice Department for failing to fill out forms on the scene of a shootout with a narcotrafficante.

The folks who provided the WRONG PAPERS to the Congress have committed a far greater crime.

Probably the thing that bothers me the most about all this is that Charles Grassley is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, if you know what I mean.

Yet, he is at least following the trail of crumbs on this case. There is that.

1364 pages to try to explain why inaccurate statements were made to Congress? I can sum it up in only a sentence; 'we tried to lie but the overwhelming evidence tripped us up'.
