Bachmann Renews Attack on Gingrich Over Immigration

Representative Michele Bachmann renewed her attack on Saturday of Newt Gingrich over illegal immigration, saying once again that he favored “amnesty” for the 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States.

As evidence, Ms. Bachmann released a letter that Mr. Gingrich co-signed in 2004 supporting a proposal by President Bush for a guest-worker program that would have let undocumented workers already holding jobs apply for special status, giving them employee benefits and the ability to come and go across the border.

Mrs. Bachmann called Mr. Gingrich “the most liberal G.O.P. candidate on the issue of immigration reform’’ in a statement.

I like Michelle, but she needs to be talking about her ideas if she wants to advance her candidacy rather than snipping at her fellow candidates.

God bless this patriotic woman. Somehow, we HAVE to elect her President of the United States. She is tough, fearless, patriotic, conservative, experienced, intelligent, expert on foreign affairs, 1 marriage, 5 children, 23 foster kids :). There is ZERO NEGATIVES on this woman and at the very least the entire FREEPER community should be 100 percent supporting her. I know alot of you are liberal and want stinky Perry and Newt, but for once in your life do the right thing and support a President Bachmann!!!! She will get the job done!!! Obamacare would be GONE with her. The others, I doubt it. Totally up to you guys. We have a serious chance at a true conservative!!! Let’s get er done!!!!

I am glad Michelle Bachmann is calling Newt to task. No one else seems to want to touch The Professor who can be very snarky with his intellectual ater ego.

I also think Bachmann is possibly being groomed by Romney to fill his VP slot. She has never said an unkind thing about Mitt.

JMHO.

Abolish Obamacare.
Defund Planned Parenthood
Support Israel

Those three alone shows that we should be supporting her 100 percent. She is a fighter and will make enemies. Even you are negative towards her and you like her. She does not care about popularity but doing the right thing and getting things done. I know that is an unknown idea but it will be done with her.

Hinckley -

You might try reading a thread that was posted about an hour ago in which Roy Beck of Numbers USA outlines all the things Newt Gingrich did as Speaker to sabotage efforts to enforce laws regarding illegal aliens.

Michele Bachmann does not have a record of working to derail illegal immigration enforcement. Gingrich does.

You Gingrich cheerleaders are worse than the Perry Fangirls.

I’m pretty sure “all” it says is that politics makes strange bedfellows. From her viewpoint, even though she is not a candidate with a lot of overall gravitas, if she can shoot Newt down and Cain takes his place again, she will have produced political progress.

“I like Michelle, but she needs to be talking about her ideas if she wants to advance her candidacy rather than snipping at her fellow candidates.”

Given where she is in the polls, she really has no choice but to contrast herself to the others to have any chance of getting some traction.

The more I learn about Newt, the more I am convinced that he would be an even worse choice than Mitt (something I never dreamed possible)

If there are Perrywinkles I guess there can be Newtons.

Newt is a seriously loose cannon. Cain seems to be the polar opposite, if anything he ties his cannon down too tightly (would not sign the Susan B. Anthony pledge for months because he feared its language, taken literally, would commit him to something Constitutionally impossible).

Newt is innovative and determined. A great out of the box thinker. He’s also a compromiser which to some makes him seem like a Rino. In the end, politics results in compromise. You just have to compromise more to your end then theirs. I trust Newt where it really matters. I do not trust Romney and I do not think Michelle Bachmann can weather the compaign vs. Obama. I would go for Palin, I would go for Cain. Palin is not running and Cain is iffy. But I will not vote for Romney either in the primary or the general election.

Newt believes America must be a nation of laws. The first duty of the federal government is national defense, and it is inexcusable that we haven’t secured the border. In his 21st Century Contract with America, Newt pledges to control the southern border by January 1, 2014, waiving any regulations and pushing aside any bureaucracies that get in the way.

As we secure the border, we must make an aggressive and serious effort to deport all criminals, gang members, and any other threats to our society as quickly as possible. We must also tap into the ingenuity of the private sector to better validate who is in the United States legally.

Newt opposed the DREAM Act. However, he did agree with part of the legislation which allowed those who came to the United States illegally as children to serve in the U.S. Military to earn their citizenship, just as foreign nationals are today allowed to do the same.

Furthermore, Newt has proposed giving local communities the authority to allow those with long established roots in the neighborhood a legal residency status, but not citizenship. Newt believes local communities are at a better vantage point to determine if those there illegally should stay or go. Under this system, we will send home those with no family or community ties and quickly deport those who have committed criminal and other destructive acts, while providing minimal disruption to families and communities.

Read Newt’s 10 step immigration plan here.

Newt would be wonderful in a presidential think tank, with someone more reasoned to filter the output. As president himself... shoot NO.

I will never vote for an Open Borders Republican like Gingrich. Securing our borders and our economic survival go hand in hand. Conservatives who don’t understand this understand nothing. We cannot afford a RINO in the White House - no matter how articulate and electable he seems.

I call for a Lincoln-Douglass style debate between Newt and Michele on the subject of immigration. Let’s hear from the candidates own mouths what they believe rather than listen to a bunch of hacks tell us what they believe. Let the chips fall where they may...
