Cain and the black vote: wishful thinking (Blacks give Obama 91% approval rating today)

Herman Cain is at it again, making bold pronouncements that fly in the face of actual evidence to the contrary. This time in a seven-page mailer to Iowa Republicans, the flagging Republican front-runner lists a few reasons why he says he can win the GOP nomination for president.....
...Its that kind of delusional talk that reinforces the image I conjured up last week of Cain running for president of the Land of Make-Believe. Only there could he hope to surpass, let alone replicate, President Eisenhowers remarkable (by todays standards) electoral success with African Americans.
Keep something in mind about that 41 percent of blacks who cast a vote for Eisenhower. Thats 41 percent of blacks who COULD vote in 1956. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 did away with the discriminatory laws that blocked many African Americans from exercising their right to vote.
And then theres this. On Sunday, The Posts Chris Cillizza (a.k.a. The Fix) penned an article about how President Obamas base of support remains solid heading into 2012. Here are the three paragraphs that punch holes in Cains argument that he can lead the Republican party to victory with a large share of black votes.
At the heart of the presidents enduring strength among his base are African Americans who have never wavered in any meaningful way after 95 percent of black voters opted for the Illinois senator in 2008. In Gallups latest weekly tracking polling, Obamas job approval rating stands at 43 percent among the general public but is nearly double that 84 percent among African Americans. In the November NBC-WSJ poll, Obamas approval rating among black voters stood at a stratospheric 91 percent....

Most Blacks have been on the dimoKKKRAT plantation for so long they have lost all their intellectual thought process. They will do what ever the “straw hat” bosses on the plantation such as Sharpton and Jackson tell them what to do. Those that have escaped the plantation and are now enjoying independent thought such as Herman Cain will have to endure the wrath of the left. What a pity.

I agree that we will have to wait and see.
Assuming that Mr. Cain will become the Republican nominee, and I hope he will, it seems premature to count on Black racism to maintain President Obama's high percentage. He hasn't succeeded in doing much for them lately -- they have taken bad hits economically -- and that can be important.
I don't think we should support Mr. Cain because he may wean more Black voters from the Democrat plantation than a non-Black candidate. Doing so would be "racist" and congruent with what I think the Democrat party focused on in nominating Senator Obama in 2008.
The great anguish resulting from Mr. Cain's lead in the polls produced smear attacks against him and whatever candidate now or later attains the lead will have to deal with more of the same. Perhaps we should focus on who is best able to fulfill his duties as the President rather than on the other stuff.

Who is the Washington Post or any other newspaper to tell me how the Black community will vote? I say fight for this group of Americans. Black Americans. I will write to Cain and tell him lets fight for those votes.
During the Perot campaign we ran and manned a campaign office smack dab in the middle of the Black community in the Crenshaw district of Los Angeles. And we did well. We can do it again because conditions do not favor Obama this election cycle
Black people are sick of him and his taking the Black vote for granted. Blacks that support Cain can exploit these wedge issues Obama has introduced into Black communities across this country. I am ready to fight, And this article in the Post is just a preemptive strike to try and convince Black Americans that it is hopeless. Its not

Its a sad commentary on the average black voter but they are just democrat/obama to the core. Cains wife will probably vote for Obama. She might vote for her husband but if he doesnt make it, Ill bet she and 99% of Cains fellow church members will vote Obama. And there doesnt seem to be a darn thing we can do about it. They just dont get it.
That is a load of stinking you know what. The Black community is ripe for the picking if Cain manages to win the nomination. I pledge my support to get out in the streets and fight for those votes. Anything else would be unAmerican

Ive read stories saying quite the opposite.
And so have I. Obama with his shuck and jive routine is finished in the Black community. People have spoken actively against him. We have seen many Black politicians who we thought firmly in Obama's camp speak out against him. Maxine Waters here in Los Angeles is but one example.
If Cain can secure the nomination, people in the Black community will defect and go to him in numbers that will pull Black Americans away from Obama and cause him to lose the election in 2012
The key is if he can get into position to fight for the nomination. That will be difficult considering how the GOP establishment and leftwing dem machine have teamed up to oppose Cain. But there are people willing to work for those votes. Sign me up today! I have already e-mailed the Cain campaign and told them I am ready and able to go into the streets

You are dreaming.
I don’t like it either, but it’s just a fact.
Even a decent black guy like Cain who is really black (unlike Obama), who really brought himself up from nothing to success (unlike Obama), cannot wean these people from their devotion to the dem party and especially Obama.

I do not want to believe that black people are that stupid. If they are then they deserve what they get. Dogs are obedient to their master - is that what a black person is, a dog? Can’t they think for themselves? Help me, I don’t want to be a racist but blind support for the rat party tells me that these people cannot think rationally. Obummer isn’t even black - he’s a muslim. WTF?

I guess Jews are just as stupid as blacks. A free and independent citizen of this country should not be tied to a particular political party. I must admist that I have voted democrat when necessary. I guess that is what an independent citizen should do.

"Obama could borrow David Duke`s Grand Wizard garb, give a speech on how he perceived black voters to be slaves on the democrat plantation, and still get more than 90% of the black vote."That's certainly borne out in these interviews.

Agreed with your post #59. This is just the latest attack on Cain “he won’t win over any blacks”. I’ve seen three articles almost identical in the last few days from different sources. Gee coincidence? And why now - I thought he was a frivolous candidate who had his 15 minutes and is fading fast? Cain would most definitely draw out a larger black vote than any other GOP candidate would. Sure not 50 percent of them but enough to make a huge difference. That is why the abject fear and hatred of this man

Madigan,
SORRY but we "people of color" are NOT buying any. "lexy" is all too typical of the leftist lunatics who are still in "the DIMocRATS party" - Scratch them & they bleed "lily white racism", as they tolerate black/brown/red/other minority people just exactly as long as we do what they want & vote like good little robots.
We intelligent "people of color" are NOT fooled & that is precisely why we are leaving the "DIMocRATS party" in droves to be independents & Tea Party members.
To all "persons of color": If you truly want to be judged by the content of your character rather than by the color of your skin, come join the Tea Party in your city, county or parish & help us take our country back from the BIGOTS/FOOLS/HATERS, who inhabit the lunatic leftist extreme of the "DIMocRATS Party".
Sincerely, Juan Ortega de la Cerda

Cain was in Florida a few days ago in the Cuban community and even though he received a mixed reception, most were enthusiastic for him.
In the article I read, yes there were a few Democrats in the crowed who gave Cain a negative view, but that comes without saying with a Democrats.

" This is about the black vote and its inexplicable homogenousy. "
And just think ? over 50 years ago they mostly voted Republican, go figure ?
I don't know about this time, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice , shame on me.
The mask has been uncovered and it's going to be very very hard for the MSM and the Democrats to win over people this time around.
To: TitansAFC
" Were not getting more of the black vote, and its certainly not going to happen with Obama on the ballot. "
The Democrats are between a rock and a hard place this time around, should they keep their Goldenboy and lose ? or go with Hillary ?
Some may disagree with me, however ? I believe that if they were to go with Hillary, they would get more of the black vote that going with Obama this time around.
To: TitansAFC
Obama will retain 95%+ of the black vote no matter who we nominate. Only if you swallow the Washington Post hook, line, and sinker.
All a Republican nominee need do is reach the double digits of the black vote, and it's curtains for Zero's second term.

In other words ?
Translation : The Democrats, MSM, Liberals are only tolerant of black people as long as the blacks say " Yes'em Boss " and tow the Liberal agenda as long as they don't run off the liberal plantation.
The Democrats, MSM, Liberals love for black people is only skin deep, once one of them get's out of line, they are reading for the lynch mob.
