From the website:

The Political Derby Composite Poll is a tool that takes the most recent major polls and weights their results based on poll age, sample type, and margin of error each day using a proprietary formula. Unlike other poll compilations, this is not a simple average. The polls that make up the PD Composite are well-known reputable national polls who sample “likely primary voters” and “registered voters”, as opposed to only “adults, including, but not limited to: NBC News/Wall Street Journal, Pew Research, Quinnipiac University, and Rasmussen Reports. The Composite Poll is a significant factor in determining the Power Rankings.

The PD Composite will be updated in a regular post that will run at least weekly, or more often if new polling data changes results significantly

Anybody but Romney is good. All the others are fine candidates and better than the current occupant.

Interesting that Romney is actually going down for the first time in a long time. I got a call from the RNC yesterday asking me to support them again this year. I responded that I would give no money until Romney was out of the running. I would give no money to any party that would support someone like him.

Cain blew it. He came through the bimbo eruption with flying colors. The race was his to lose, and he snarfed it on foreign policy questions. It wasn't that he had a single fumble, but that he didn't get any right on the first try.

My problem with Newt is the opposite of Cain. He is great on foreign policy, but I have problems with the women in his past. Specifically Nancy Pelosi and Dede Scozzafava. How many times does this guy have to stab conservatives in the back before they realize he can't be trusted.

There is nobody left that I like. I could vote for Cain or Newt. If its Romney I'm only voting for down ticket races and giving my money directly to candidates I support and ignoring the party. Heck I'm from Illinois so my presidential vote doesn't count anyway. But if enough people close their wallets to the Romney backing party elite they might get the message.

“The race was his to lose, and he snarfed it on foreign policy questions”

That was the MSM reaction to his response, so everyone thinks he’s “out”.

What if MSM had done the same to Obama, for any number of things?

MSM is running this primary.

Whoever can silence the media twits, beat Obama, and is not Romney: that’s a good thing.

“giving my money directly to candidates I support and ignoring the party”.
This is what I do now too, Gonzo. If the RNC supports Rinos, which they currently do, they will not get one plug nickel from me.
Research the core Conservative candidates around the country who have a chance of winning in key races...and contribute what we can to help them.
Only problem with this is that you get on their mailing lists for life! :-)

Newt insisted that borders be secured and that employers be penalized for hiring illegals (”I do believe we should control the border. I do believe we should have very severe penalties for employers”).

Newt did NOT suggest citizenship for longtime illegals. Instead, he suggested that citizen panels review the status of illegals and then determine who will be deported and who will be allowed to stay as foreign nationals with a “red card”. The illegals who take but don’t contribute get deported. Those who have a track record of contributing and not taking get a red card. This red card status allows productive illegals to stay and be transferred to a legal visitor status until they break the rules, and it makes them ineligible for welfare and other entitlement programs and won’t allow them to vote because they are not citizens.

Given the practical reality that we will NEVER be able to deport 10 Million illegals, what Newt proposes is practical and also addresses the pathetic situation we are in now.

After last night’s amnesty statement, that will be the last time you’ll see Newt surging. If Romney is smart, he’ll jump on it and point out that any mention of amnesty encourages more illegals to try and enter the country. He should also hammer the fact that amnesty screws the people who are “on line” to come here or stay here LEGALLY. IMO, Newt just handed Romney a BIG opening with Conservatives.
PS: That Perry “you had illegal gardeners working at your house” crap does NOT fly with anyone. Not in the real world, anyway.

I think that Cain had a good recovery last night. Syria does depend on its oil exports for hard currency, and getting Europe to cut them off would hurt that regime. A blockade would work even better.

I think that Newt handed this one back to Herman Cain.

I'll take these one by one.
That was the MSM reaction to his response, so everyone thinks he’s “out”.

The reaction is due to his poll numbers dropping. He had the momentum, all he had to do was hold on to it and the race was his. Now Gingrich has the big mo.

What if MSM had done the same to Obama, for any number of things?

What if frogs had wings? Look the MSM will always give the Democrats a pass. If a GOP candidate needs the MSM to be fair to win we have already lost. We need candidates who can win even when the MSM is completely out to get us. Gingrich, for all his other faults, has shown he can counter punch the MSM. Cain hasn't mastered the one line press slam that put Reagan in the White House.

MSM is running this primary.

Duh! Always have, always will. Lincoln had to play to the newspapers in the Lincoln Douglass debates and you have to play to the cable channels and bloggers now. The term moderator should be abolished. The press is, and has always been, the primary participant at the debates. It is not just the ability to defeat the other candidates that matters, but the ability to defeat a hostile press that will determine the winner.

ROFLOL, amnesty is amnesty, you can call it any silly name you wish it is still amnesty. What part of breaking the law and rewarding law breaking do you not understand. These people have stolen millions off of Americans. No More, take the assets of those that employee these people to pay back what they have stolen. When they have no jobs the will starve are self deport. Not my problem.

I don’t know. Cain is so inept when it comes to foreign policy. Its just like Dole and McCain. Its Romney’s “turn”. Fortunately, I think things are so bad, that Romney could beat Obama.

Sorry, but this whole debate last night was engineered to hurt Newt - the one the media fears most. All of you here complaining about him are giving the MSM a victory.

Newt was hardly called upon to answer questions - he could have knocked most of them out of the park. The focus was mostly on Paul to make it appear that he is “coming back.”

The few questions he was asked were designed to damage him - an assault by Wolf Blitzer, whom we know came into the debate with the intent to damage Newt.

The bottom line is that, like it or not, Newt is far better than Obama and the best of the field that can actually win the primary. Shhhhhh... don’t tell the MSM...

And, as someone has already mentioned, 25 years is not an arbitrary number... 1986 was the year Reagan granted “Amnesty,” even though he was duped. So, the people Newt was talking about are already legal under Reagan’s law.

Your solution involves the deportation of 10 million illegals, which is not a real solution, but rather is a fantasy (a fantasy I share with you). Fantasy is by definition not grounded in reality.

Point me to a solution grounded in reality - one that is practical politically and logistically.
