BTW, Mr Harris *is* the notorious, aggressive atheist, but that is besides the point, for this posting. Please try to leave his atheistic views out of your comments.
I have trained with the same school Gerald Celnte has for the last 6 years.
Www.attack proof.com.
Injuring them quickly is a better move because that creates a likelihood they will be caught and now if they manage to kill you the charges against them will be greater.
I hope I have the presence of mind to avoid risking my life to save a car or camera.
Bump
Sorry, but very little actual truth in there. There’s no set state code on defense of property. All states differ.
The guy seems like a wuss to me. Am I going to stand by and let thugs or anarchists destroy my property, not if by using superior firepower I can back them down.
Defending one's property doesn't necessarily mean having to destroy a life.
People assume too often that by letting the bad guy go or get away with criminal behavior in the effort of self-preservation that they are doing the right thing. To me, there is a great chance that by eliminating the threat to myself I can save somebody else who would in turn be a victim had the perp gotten away.
To me it is a mind set.
Article had some good stats though.
Knees are designed to bend ONE way. Make them bend in any of the other three ways, and you can do what you want.
Three rules of self defense, as taught by my instructor in Tae Kwon Do:
1. If the enemy cannot see, he cannot fight. Strike the eyes, of the bridge of the nose.
2. If the enemy cannot breathe, he cannot fight. Strike the diaphragm.
3. If the enemy cannot stand, he cannot fight. Strike the knees.
Good advice 20 years ago, and it has stood the test of time.
>Principle #2: Do not defend your property.
Slaves are made in such ways...
Number 1 seems to make a lot of sense to me. I can see some truth in number 2 but it is basically wrong.
I remember something Socrates is quoted as saying, and this is not his exact words, but he had been criticized for constantly looking around him and staring at people. He said that is the only reason he survived some battle when a lot of Athenians were killed because they were simply running away.
I think me meant basically be on the lookout or always be aware of what is going on around you.
There really are times when running away is the best idea and other times when you should stand your ground, just don’t ask me exactly what those are.
Also as much as possible, be armed.
Here’s what I’ve been teaching my kids, who are still quite young, but it will save them huge amounts of heartache and trouble if they obey. STAY AWAY FROM ANY PLACE WHOSE MAIN FUNCTION IS TO PROVIDE ALCOHOL. I’m no teetotaler, but people do crazy, stupid, and dangerous things when they’re drunk, and it’s even worse when they’re surrounded by other drunks.
it's considered the Bible of self protection with firearms...
Bullshit, shoot the perp, twice and look for the next target.
I would never think of running out of my house if I'm in possession of any of my guns and someone has broken in.
This guy is not giving advice that I'd ever take.
He also says if a group of vandals are destroying your car to leave and call the police, that you don't want to shoot a teenager over an act of vandalism.
That depends on the immediate danger to me and my family.
If I felt that the destruction of the car was act one, and my destruction was act two, I'd have no remorse at shooting even if they later were identified to be teenagers.
At the point of my life being threatened, the perps age is of no concern to me.
I disagree with No.2 In today’s world pacifism will get you killed faster then offensive reaction. With 3 strike laws and psychopathic criminals being set free you’re a liability to them if left alive. Many of these animals will kill for sport. Many gang initiation rights include killing too.
Now if you’re in a situation and your situational awareness was so sloppy you are under direct threat of being killed/injured by an attacker your best option to stay alive is a strong reactive offense making them back off or stop. The life you save may be that of your family.
It seems that in many of the recent attack situations (large packs of feral yutes), running is probably the best option. Of course, that isn’t much of an option when you’re on a crowded bus or subway. Yeah, it sucks that people have to deal with these attacks. But the thugs know it and use it to their advantage, which is why they attack in groups. A lone victim is easy pickins.
Liberal pacifist rules of self-non-defense.
This run away line of thinking removes needed heros from society.
Of course I live in Alaska. I can carried concealed with license or permission as long as I am a non-felon. These guys #1 piece of advice is to avoid troubled areas,....My first piece of advice is live in an area where the right to armed self defense is not questioned, and go and do what you will as a free man.
