I read most of the article trying to understand where the author is coming from.
The guy seems like a wuss to me. Am I going to stand by and let thugs or anarchists destroy my property, not if by using superior firepower I can back them down.
Defending one's property doesn't necessarily mean having to destroy a life.
People assume too often that by letting the bad guy go or get away with criminal behavior in the effort of self-preservation that they are doing the right thing. To me, there is a great chance that by eliminating the threat to myself I can save somebody else who would in turn be a victim had the perp gotten away.
To me it is a mind set.
Article had some good stats though.

Amen brother, and I am at 4 incidents this year alone where I intervened to help another victim. 4, and every single time I both protected the victim and did not have to harm the scumbag. An additional incident at a gas station where some homeless racist illegal alien threatened to kill me and my family because we have a nice truck, "stolen from the hard work of his ancestors" ended very quickly when I put my 45 in his face. I told the police exactly what I did.
This run away line of thinking removes needed heros from society.
Of course I live in Alaska. I can carried concealed with license or permission as long as I am a non-felon. These guys #1 piece of advice is to avoid troubled areas,....My first piece of advice is live in an area where the right to armed self defense is not questioned, and go and do what you will as a free man.
