Sikhs can carry daggers to Olympic Games

Sikh athletes and spectators will be able to wear ceremonial daggers around the London 2012 Olympic sites, organisers said Sunday.

Security will be tight at all Games venues, with Britain prepared to deploy surface-to-air missiles to protect London during the event, Defence Secretary Philip Hammond said Monday, shortly after the government rejected reports of US security fears.

However, Sikhs will be allowed to take in a sheathed kirpan as long as it is worn beneath their clothing and if they can prove that they are adhering to four other articles of faith, The Sunday Times said.

In a bid to make the event the most religion-friendly Games staged, a record 193 chaplains from a multitude of faiths are being recruited, the broadsheet said.

The International Olympic Committee normally insists that Games facilities are laid on for Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists.

Sikhs carry weapons to protect themselves against Muslims.

Knives are pretty much banned in the U.K, but they get to carry concealed ones on top of it? That doesn’t make much sense to me.

Laid on? Must be a Briticism, but it flies over my head.

If a Sihk (pronounced: seek) can carry a dagger, everywhere, I am creating a new religion. I am a Gihk (pronounced: geek) and I must carry a ceremonial automatic weapon everywhere I go.

Sihks with kirpans no problem as long as Gurkas with kukris are extended the same courtesy.

Of course the smiling little fellows with the big bright blades just might be on duty with the Royal Ghurka Rifles.

Muzzies beware!

Oh, dear! Weapons and symbols of violence at the Olympics? What would the athletes think?

Fine. So US athletes can carry Colt 1911’s if they abide by the rest of the Constitution.

Sikh does not equal Muslim.

The Sikh “knife” often is not bigger than my Swiss Army knife; it’s symbolic.

I simply wish the British would stop forbidding any religious symbols. They think they are progressive; instead, they are pagan.

Kind like when Obama visited West Point and the Cadets had to remove their swords before he came to speak there....yeah, like they were a threat to their Commander in Chief.

This is where “Zero Tolerance Policy” ends up being equal to having a “Zero Brain”

Consider the actual facts instead of the emotions:

1. Sikhs are sworn to only use the sword to defend, never attack and have killed more Muslims (defending Hindus etc) this last century than any other religion save the Muzzies themselves

2. The ceremonial “sword” is normally 3-4 inches long and is welded shut to its sheath. Even if not welded, it is so dull it cannot even cut a knife. It's only job (when using the ceremonial version) is to cut the ceremonial sacrament given in Sikh ceremonies (which is like a sweet ground wheat grits)

I have been visiting the Punjab region for nearly 10 years now to visit my company's overseas office. While there is no one rule that ever applies to 100% of any populace (for example, 100% of Texans are Republicans: No! we still have idiot democrats here), Sikhs by a ridiculously high percentage (more than our own) are pro freedom, pro West, pro Religious liberty and oddly Pro Christian (their religion does not exclude people of other religion going to heaven)

In the UK, where this article is based, Sikhs have the highest or second highest per capita income, lowest rate of incarceration, the lowest rate of welfare, the highest rate of education and the highest home ownership rate.

Compare that to the Muzzies in the UK and you get your factcheck all in one spot.
