The 1954 amendment, offered by then-Senator Lyndon Johnson, stated that non-profit tax-exempt entities could not “participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.” Since the amendment passed, the IRS has steadfastly maintained that any speech by churches about candidates for government office, including sermons from the pulpit, can result in loss of tax exemption."

Rick Perry really takes the gibes with good humor. Takes it like a man. Gotta admire that. Sounds comfortable and reasonable too. I like this forum. They should do one every week for about three hours.

Cain thinks that Congress should have “the inertia.” But I think Congress already has that.
This should have been on c-span. Shame on them.
It’s possible C-Span wasn’t asked, and those running the debate wanted the hits.
And to follow that up, you need to have the right people in Congress that will do something with that inertia. And that means no Boehner.
