US police are to re-open the investigation into the death of US actress Natalie Wood, who died in mysterious circumstances while boating in 1981, they said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) on Thursday said new information had come to light over the death, which was deemed an accident at the time but which has long fueled speculation.

Wood drowned aged 43 while boating off of Catalina Island, near Los Angeles on November 29, 1981. It was investigated by the LASD and the LA County Coroner's Office, who ruled it was an accident.

"Recently Sheriff's Homicide Investigators were contacted by persons who stated they had additional information about the Natalie Wood Wagner drowning," said an LASD statement.

LA County Sheriff Lee Baca told the newspaper that homicide detectives want to talk to the captain based on comments he had made recounting the case on its 30th anniversary.

With all CA’s budget problems should they really be focusing their resources on Natalie Wood & Michael Jackson?

Interesting. Walken was a catch in the early 80’s. I always figured there was more to this story.

"Wagner was Barbara Stanwyck’s boy for a long time."

Well, that would fulfill my Diane Rehm fantasies...

Didn’t Robert Wagner tell her earlier in the evening-”Have a few drinks but don’t go overboard”

She wouldn’t shower on the boat — she preferred to wash up on-shore...{rimshot}

While both Wood and Walken denied any romantic involvement they did share an off-screen friendship that Natalie’s husband was a part of as well.

Hard to believe that this ‘line’ was written only 30 years ago.
Even then it was considered (sort of) risque but it would never pass muster today.

Talk about reading between the lines and the reporter just reporting what he (basically) knows as fact, leaving his own personal speculation out of it, while still conveying the message.

Christmas is coming, and Hubby needs hints. Thanks. I didn't know that it had been remastered. You're... well, you know.   :-)

They found her quite a way away from the boat, and felt she had swum a great distance until she finally gave out.

I can’t imagine the terror.

Remember in the original Godfather novel, Woltz was a pedophile, but in the movie they softened it so that the starlets he was banging were older.
