Bachmann on Cain: Great on Personality, Bad on Governing
ABC News ^ | Nov 5, 2011 | Russell Goldman

Rep. Michele Bachmann has come out swinging with the strongest assault on GOP front-runner Herman Cain, since decade-old accusations of sexual harassment came to light last week.

“Everyone loves him. Who doesn’t? He has a great personality, but this is the leader of the free world we’re talking about,” Bachmann said in an interview with conservative radio host Scott Hennan, set to air Monday. Bachmann did not specifically address the harassment charges, but instead attacked him on a series of inconsistencies in his positions on issues.

“I think the real problem is how inconsistent he’s been on the issues… There’s been 10 instances in the last month where he’s changed his position on significant issues. On the issue of pro-life, he said the government shouldn’t intervene to protect life then he switched and said, ‘no they shouldn’t.’”

Cain has been accused of changing, sometimes in the same interview, his stances on abortion, a Constitutional amendment that defines marriage between a man and a woman, and whether the United States should hypothetically swap imprisoned foreign terrorists for American hostages.

Stingingly, she said when asked of Cain: “People are looking for an adult in the room.”

Bachman needs to sew up her machete mouth. She can not go negative when she sits at 4 or 5 percent, without by now teeing off the greater numbers of supporters for other candidates who don’t appreciate her slicing, one by one, everybody else to gain traction? Her campaign is now so broke she can’t even get any other message out, but this? Can’t she run on anything different from blasting others?

When you have no issues to run on, you have to attack the other candidates on a personal level hoping someone notices.

Really bad political tactics by Ms Bachmann.

GOP voters really do not like candidates who spend all their time trashing our own side

Perry's drop from front runner to single digits in all the polls is a good example of what happens when a GOP candidate focuses on attacking the other candidates and ignores focusing on the issues.

My wife can’t stand her and changes the channel when she’s on. I liked her at first, still do to a degree on some views, but she comes across way too rough around the edges. She’s not ready for prime time. It’s what caused me to gravitate to Cain when he came along. I won’t look back...

What are you doing in this group, Michelle?

I would be proud to have Cain, Bachmann, or Santorum for President of the United States. They are the ONLY three good people in the race. Newt is really good but too much baggage. Perry and Romney are skunks who stink badly.

Agreed.

Every single time a republican attacks another republican, they go down in the polls.

Last night two candidates sat down and had a conversation like gentlemen. BOTH were elevated in the eyes of the voters.

When will these people learn that we want them to go after OBAMA and the democrats in congress?

The candidate who does that the most effectively will be the clear winner.

Bachmann is coming across like a disingenuous, desperate harpy. The more negative she goes, the faster she drops. Whoever is giving her advice needs to be fired.

Uh, no, Bachmann, he didn't. But don't let the truth get in the way of your attempting to claw out of third-tier candidate status.

"Great on Personality, Bad on Governing" and

"People are looking for an adult in the room."

Now that's the EXPERT advice one would go to the polls with...NOT!

There is a reason your candidate of choice is failing. Your posting history provides a good example of why

How about you try making a case FOR your candidate, not just race around screaming bile at the other candidates?

But then when you have no case to make for your candidate, your personal attack style politics tactics is all you have left.

To bad for your side, Conservatives reject those who insist on using those sort of political tactics.

Once again, Republicans show themselves to be tone-deaf to the realities of campaigning, and wind up doing the lion’s share of the Democrats work for them. Cain directly benefits from this, and p0which may or may not ultimately be a good thing, and so does Romney, which is definitely not a good thing, but that’s how it goes when you start out stupid. I was never terribly enthusiastic about Bachmann as a feasible nominee, but these are just stupid moves, on ANYONE’S part.
