Controversy is good. It also gets you a lot of free TV time and ink. Good move Mark.

I love the smell of flustered pundits in the morning! I don't smoke but, to some extent, I like the smell of cigarette smoke. It evokes memory of my childhood when my parents and grandparents would enjoy a smoke along with a cup of coffee to start the day with good cheer.
Kudos to the Cain campaign for this unconventional ad and a strike (Lucky Strike?) at the nanny staters.

This is a sneaky strategy. He should win the smoking and tobacco growing States:
The chart of Top Producing Tobacco States supports this contention. North Carolina has the most tobacco acreage by far and ranks as the 14th highest smoking state. Kentucky, the 2nd largest tobacco producer, ranks 3 in the nation for highest per cent of its population being smokers. Virginia and Connecticut appear to be outliers.
Also check the map at this site - very smart targeting!

The local press actually asked the guy who did Jesse Ventura’s supposedly edgy ads what he thought and he said the ad was stupid and ineffective. HA!
His clients would kill for a $2 million immediate reaction to one of his ads, not to mention all the navel gazing and “subliminal message” analysis going on in the media. While Herman just smiles that knowing smile.

The ad is a thumb in the eye to the feds and those who would control our every move. I think it was brilliant.
To: freespirited
Personally I didn’t much like the ad itself because it didn’t have much content. However if it brings gain to Cain then so be it!

You gotta love Cain for being one bold candidate. He is what America needs right now.
To: freespirited
It wasn't the smoking per se. It was the great Cain grin at the end. The grin that says, "In your face, PC nazis who want to outlaw smoking, not just in real life but even on TV." Let's hope he has the same rogue attitude about other PC-muzzled topics.

Early on Herman Cain said he isn’t politically correct. He doesn’t know how. Herman Cain scares the hell out the establishment, all the while Obama runs to the cloak room to take a drag.
