“...rivals...believed [Cain] would...fade as time wore on.”

Now, that’s racism if I ever heard it. The only thing more stupid would be thinking Clinton or Obama are black.

Cain is the man to beat. Romney is the man to beat UP.

CNN: “The Obama campaign is celebrating after watching the debate tonight”

Giving the devil his due, Anderson Cooper did a very good job of conducting the debate. It’s been a long time since CNN was invited into my living room, and I’m wincing while Donna Brazire is blathering before they interview Mr. Cain, but no complaints about Cooper as moderator.

..signature proposal of his campaign.

That's one of the tactics of the dems right there. Define the other guy in your terms - don't let him define himself.

All I saw was attacks against eachother. Cain once agaun showed class and Romney attempted to steal the show....he didn’t. Bachmann did okay with the little time she had, Ron Paul showed himself to be an ignorant lunatic and Santorum and Perry struggled.

Not enough attacks against Obama, just eachother. I’m getting bored.

I agree. Cain looked like a flip flopper especially on the hostage question. Newt is looking better to me, and I still love the honesty of Ron Paul. The others..aargh!

This is really funny! I did not think Cain was especially attacked, and he came across well. Perry is a disorganized speaker, and a poor debater, and did not improve his position.
Romney is smooth, and well practiced, and does not lose his cool. He also is far more conservative than some of the Rinos supporting him.
Gingrich is thoughtful and brilliant.
Poor Ron Paul! He is good at times, but then comes out with foolish positions. He has no sense of world reality.
Rick Santorum is a good guy, and deserves more attention.
Michelle Bachmann is a good conservative, but not as good a debater as many of the others.

I’ve got to wonder who in the hell in the GOP agrees to a debate hosted by CNN and moderated by Anderson Cooper.

We need a webcast debate to get out from under the thumb of the news networks.

agreed...

Rick Perry makes me sick.. he’s 110% AGGIE. nuff said.

Cain is my man. He needs to improve more, with his communication skills... but, he IS getting better, quickly. This time next year, he will be a FORCE that will overwhelm Obama.

Sactorum would make a pretty good VP pairing with Herman.

Love Newt.. sure wish he’d stuck by his 2nd wife when she was in the hospital. If he had, he’d have a chance.

Cain — They landed a few blows and he wasn’t at the top of his game tonight, but he didn’t hurt himself much.

Mitt — He’s gotten much quicker with his BS, but he still looks like a child trying to play president. He reminds me of one of the kids in adult clothes in those old Frosted Mini Wheats commercials.

Perry — Best debate yet for Rick, but that isn’t saying much. The RINO battles with Mitt made them both look stupid. And the similarity with the bickering that occurred with Santorum and Mitt made him look like a smaller candidate. He got in a few good lines, but good Lord, is he having seizures in the middle of every sentence or what? Someone check that man for TIAs.

Newt — The greatest guy that nobody wants to vote for.

Bachmann — Was playing Miss Priss while everyone attacked each other, except when she took shots at Cain. She came across as desperate, whiny, and annoying.

Santorum — Good show. He had much less to lose than Perry did by going toe to toe with Slick Willard. If he hadn’t lost PA by 20 points, he might be worth examining further.

Anderson Cooper — GAY. But, while the debate format was pretty bad, he did the best job as moderator I’ve seen in a debate so far this cycle.

Rick Perry got completely embaressed by Romney tonight. Just watched it on DVR- that part- could barely believe what I was hearing.

I hate Mitt, but he played that fool like a fiddle and made him look about 2 years old trying to play with the big boys.

Most people read that as a Alpha male smack down, and I think that was it for good for Perry.... he’s done.

The crowd turned on him, booing Perry, supporting Mitt.

God,Perry just awful. I’m pretty sure I could out argue/debate him.

I wouldn’t have expected this from him, and went into his candidacy with an open mind, but man... Obama would would hold his holier than though ‘tude over him so hard it wouldn’t even be funny.

Cain is the only one who got in a slam on Romney without the audience booing. That takes talent :-)

Cain has a major problem and as bad as it is here on FreeRepublic it's worse in the real world. People have no idea how much they are paying in hidden taxation and how much it costs businesses to deal with taxes and regulations. I don't mind if the other candidates don't like his 9-9-9 plan, it's got its problems and they have every right to question it. But I would have felt a lot better if some of the other candidates had spent a few seconds acknowledging that our tax system needs to be gutted with a chainsaw, not nibbled at with a scalpel. I think Gingrich was the only one who did.

Newt’s daughter has been on Free Republic and shut down that lie about her parents.

1 - her parents agreed to a divorce BEFORE her mother was diagnosed with cancer.

2 - Newt took his children to visit her in the hospital. There were no angry words.

3 - her mother is akuve abd doing well; she doesn’t want to be bothered by the stupid lies about her ex-husband.

Put the lies to bed. It isn’t ttue.

Cain bungled his way thru the hostage question. Avoided the 14th amendment question and looked weak on explaining the tax plan. Disappointing indeed.
