Cain: I'll challenge Perry for evangelical votes

HARRIMAN, Tenn. — Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain says he's challenging Gov. Rick Perry for the GOP primary's critical evangelical vote.

In an interview with The Associated Press on Saturday, Cain said the Texas governor "thought he had carved out that niche when he didn't own that niche by himself."

The Georgia businessman said he doesn't wear his Christian faith "on my forehead" but believes his campaign will do well with religious conservative voters.

Which is an utterly irrational complaint to make about 9-9-9.

There is nothing that stops the current tax rates from being hiked by Congress. The notion that 9-9-9 gives Congress MORE power is completely divorced from reality. Congress has that power now, there is nothing in 9-9-9 that gives them any more power then they currently have now.

9-9-9 actually makes it much harder to raise taxes. Since everyone pays, everyone knows any tax hike will be paid by them personally.

9-9-9 eliminates ALL the current loopholes Congress currently has in the Tax Code to favor this or that group. It also eliminates any ability to pass off government spending as someone else paying for what you are getting. Since everyone pays, everyone knows they will pay more to “get stuff” from the Government.

So find a new attack line cause that one is completely baseless

Cain should also challenge the disgraceful positions of Evangelical apologists for illegal alien amnesty, like Dr. Richard Land - a big Perry supporter.

Like any professional politician, Perry has a whole lot of skeletons in his closet. When you refused to make this an issues based campaign, and decided instead to make it a smear job whisper campaign about Cain, you made your guy's background and political connections fair game.

I whisper nothing about Cain. I post his words and his deeds. Perry has been vetted by many, including the Bush-Rove-Hutchison machine -- and smeared by many and Texans keep electing him -- because we know him and we know the truth.

But no comment can be made about what Herman Cain does or says -- on the campaign trail?????? Interesting.

Still whining I see.

I've seen a whole lot of emotional euphoria over Cain's campaign. But little if any objective analysis from his most ardent supporters. And I've not seen one blatant lie posted about Cain. Numerous opinions, some based on serious facts, others based on a handful of facts. Most people know very little about Cain.

With no governing experience, no legislative experience and little political experience, Cain needs to be seriously vetted. That is not happening so far.

Some conservatives have already caught onto Cain's 999 plan and his Chilean plan to reform SocSec. They're both political ploys, gimmicks to hoodwink the ignorant and the lazy misinformed into sending him cash and support for his campaign.

Your smash-mouth tactics around the forum are not helping Cain and only make you look like a hypersensitive, hyperbolic fool.

It should eliminate tax withholding too, which FDR purposely designed to hide the tax theft from Americans.

Kristol told me...

I'll pass on anything Bill Kristol has to say.

But you know something MNJohnnie, you and I and everyone else here, for the most part, are on the same journey to the same destination we are just taking different paths, otherwise we would be here. But no one benefits from name calling and insults because we choose different paths. I have answered every post you have directed at me with honesty and respect and I have had enough of your name calling and insults because I don't support your candidate. So do me a favor and stop directing your post to me because I am done talking to you.

I don’t worship any polician and don’t live in TX

I support Perry as he’s conservative on nearly every issue and has a record to support it... Where’s Cain’s?

Perry is the ONLY one blasting Romney consistently... Cain hasn’t said jack...

Your comments re: Perry being VP are lame and BS and you know it

Just watch the ads Perry produced blasting Romney, no holds barred.

The die is cast... If Perry is knocked out, we have a Romney/Cain ticket. End of story

And as Cain’s indicated, he’s more than happy with that

How about you two answer the questions instead of dreaming up the next attack rant to post about Cain?

Who got in the race last after it was clear Romney was not going to get any appreciable support from social conservatives?

Who did the GOP Establishment push into the race after it seem Tea Party heroine Bachmann was going to upset Romney’s ride to the nomination?

Who does the GOP Establishment see as their back up card if Romney fails?

Who has long standing intimate ties with the Liberal wing of the GOP Establishment?

The answer is Rick Perry.

Bill Kristol to a NY Time Reporter telling him how the GOP Establishment plans to deal with “the Tea party mutiny”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2792217/posts?page=3

Kristol told me just after Perry entered the race, a development that essentially ended [the more radical Michele] Bachmann’s brief ascent. Establishment Republicans may prefer Romney to Perry, but their assumption is that either man can be counted on to steer the party back toward the broad center next fall, effectively disarming the Tea Party mutiny.

Wonder who Perry will be VP with?

Odd how that question never gets asked of Perry.

Could it be because everyone knows Perry is the GOP Establishment mole in the race to split the Tea Party/Conservative vote and hand the nomination to Romney?

Could it be because they know the ticket the GOP Machine is setting up is “Romney/Perry 2012? Think about it. Romney has the money, Perry has the idolatrous worship from the social Conservatives.

Could that be why the Perry camp is knowingly lying about Cain’s solidly Conservative record on both social and fiscal issues? Because they know full well Perry’s record can not stand close scrutiny?

What does anyone really know about Perry other then the nice words and platitudes he puts in his speeches? Looks like Perry is just Bush 3.0 another tough talking social conservative who will go to DC and be yet another good little GOP crony capitalist water boy.

Cain fibs or pulls a Clinton...what IS..IS

Cain responded by claiming he never dismissed Ron Paul or his supporters as “ignorant” for asking about the Federal Reserve, and that the error was down to Paul believing what he read on the Internet. (maybe not, he called them stupid)

Herman Cain Lies to Ron Paul's Face About the Federal Reserve at GOP Debate

This is Herman Cain:“I get the same stupid question at almost every one of these events, I know it’s a deliberate strategy. How can a person randomly show up at a hundred events and ask the same stupid question to try to nail me on the Federal Reserve?”

Cain on radio—No Need To Audit the Federal Reserve

Transcript:

Some people say we ought to audit the Federal Reserve. Here's what I do know. The Federal Reserve already has so many internal audits it's ridiculous. I don't know why people think we're going to learn this great amount of information by auditing the Federal Reserve.... Here's the advice I've given to people who are worried about an audit of the Federal Reserve. Call them up and ask them! You can stop by and have one of their P.R. people or one of their public relations people explain to you how the Federal Reserve operates. I think a lot of people are calling for this audit of the Federal Reserve because they don't know enough about it. There's no hidden secrets going on in the Federal Reserve to my knowledge. And I tell people, we've got 12 Federal Reserve Banks. Find out which district you are in, call them up and go from there. We don't need to waste money with another commission or an audit. That is not necessary because folks, we've got a lot of other problems we've got to worry about.

It is not just Paulbots who want an audit.

Herman Cain Screams at Reporter at Right Online

"I never used those words, those words was used by somebody on the internet."

http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/your-world-cavuto/transcript/herman-cain-defends-controversial-muslim-comments

HERMAN CAIN, CEO, THE NEW VOICE: Hey, Neil, a reporter asked me would I appoint a Muslim to my administration? I did say no. And here's why. But the reporter didn't tell you this.

I would have to have people totally committed to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of this United States. And many of the Muslims, they are not totally dedicated to this country. They are not dedicated to our Constitution. Many of them are trying to force Sharia law on the people of this country.

And, so, yes, I did say it, and that is because I don't have time to be watching someone on my administration if they are not totally committed to the Declaration and the Constitution of the United States and the laws of this country.

(video at link)

Muslims: Cain said he wouldn’t appoint someone who’s Muslim to his Cabinet. In interviews, he appeared to soften that a bit, though he said he wasn’t “backpedaling.” He said he might be willing to name a Muslim who disavows Sharia law, but also said he’s unaware of any Muslim who’d be willing to make such a disavowal. Cain has made similar comments before

Plus the Cain people are like bulldozers, seemingly so lost in worship of their man they are willing to trash anything (like facts) that gets in their way.

It’s like a civil war here and I definitely blame the Cainiacs. they are the ones who refuse to deal in facts and just get hysterical if anyone favorably mentions another candidate.

For the sake of the country, I hope that, if by some miracle Cain gets the nomination, he is better than his followers.

So you would rather cling to the attack lie rather then bother to learn anything that challenges it out of nothing more then mindlessly idolatry for the Governor of your state?

That is absurd.

CBS: “Perry also dismissed criticism of his ties to Pastor Robert Jeffress.

“From the get-go, first time we were asked, we said we did not agree with what that pastor said, and that’s the fact,” Perry said. “Just because someone has endorsed me doesn’t mean I endorse what they say or what they do. And that’s’ the case here and we have said that repeatedly. So I think anyone trying to use this as a political tool just needs to look at the facts.

“We clearly said we didn’t agree with that statement. But on the other side of it, if I have to spend all of my time disassociating myself with what someone says about me - or for that matter if President Obama has to disassociate people who support him with things they say** - we are not going to get much time to talk about how create jobs in this country and that is what Americans are interested in.

“They are not interested in these side issues and side shows. They are interested in how you are you going to be able to get me, my family to have an environment where we have the dignity to have a job. I’m laying out that today at Pittsburgh and there are going to be a lot of Americans, Democrats and Republicans and Independents that say you know that’s a pet fellow who has a plan for America and I’m going to be for him because he is the one that understands what is going on in this country.”

Yesterday the governor’s wife, Anita Perry, described the past month on the campaign as “brutal.” “But we are survivors and we’re warriors, and we’re climbing back up that hill to try to save America,” she said.

“Well, families always take these elections probably as tough as anybody. My wife said two things yesterday, she said he’s the most conservative candidate in the race and he’s a Christian. And I can’t argue with either one of those facts.” Source

True, CAIN can walk the walk and talk the talk, that is a 1000 times better than sputtering, muttering, bumbling, perry.

I like Cain, but voters may well opt for the "proven" politician over another shot-in-the-dark candidate. And Cain, despite his personality and business acumen, is a bigger question mark than Obama was in 2008.

Don't be surprised when voters retreat to their collective comfort zone, turning the primaries into a choice between Mr. Socialized Medicine and the Poor Debater.

Good post.

By the way, someone on this thread continually brings up the timeline of when Perry entered the race.

Not sure what the point of that is. I was a Palin supporter and the time when she entered the race would have meant nothing to me, or to that person who criticizes Perry for when he entered.

Funny how folks always criticize Santorum for having lost in PA Senate (after having won twice statewide).

Cain ran for Georgia Senate once. How did that work out? He got crushed.

That’s one thing I worry about for the general election.

I did like Cain way back before he decided Perry was his primary target and I can prove it if I wanted to go back and grab old posts, which I don’t.

But even when I liked him I wondered about his chances in the general. I don’t think they are good.

Another unknown quantity? Even more unknown government-wise than Obama?

Why would this guy suddenly decide he should be president because he’s run a fairly successful business.

By that criteria, we should elect Trump.

He doesn’t run for congress, nor yet for the Senate, or governor, or lieutenant governor ... no, he’s all ready to be president.

I don’t buy it and I don’t think the country will buy it.

Can we take the chance based on the passion of some cult-like devotees?
