Cain: I'll challenge Perry for evangelical votes

HARRIMAN, Tenn. — Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain says he's challenging Gov. Rick Perry for the GOP primary's critical evangelical vote.

In an interview with The Associated Press on Saturday, Cain said the Texas governor "thought he had carved out that niche when he didn't own that niche by himself."

The Georgia businessman said he doesn't wear his Christian faith "on my forehead" but believes his campaign will do well with religious conservative voters.

The reason why Obama won in 2008 is because he co opted the Conservative platform of lowering taxes. He lied, but it worked. The person who is going to win in 2012 is going to be the one who tells the people I am going to get you more money in your pocket. Obama will do it by saying he is going to take it from the rich and give it to you. The Conservative message has to be, “I’m going to take it from the government and let you keep it and I’m going to help you make more”.Why would we want to hitch our wagon to the guy who is saying I am going to create a new way to take money from you and give to the government? That message will not win.

Who got in the race last after it was clear Romney was not going to get any appreciable support from social conservatives?

Who did the GOP Establishment push into the race after it seem Tea Party heroine Bachmann was going to upset Romney’s ride to the nomination?

Who does the GOP Establishment see as their back up card if Romney fails?

Who has long standing intimate ties with the Liberal wing of the GOP Establishment?

The answer is Rick Perry.

Bill Kristol to a NY Time Reporter telling him how the GOP Establishment plans to deal with “the Tea party mutiny”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2792217/posts?page=3

Kristol told me just after Perry entered the race, a development that essentially ended [the more radical Michele] Bachmann’s brief ascent. Establishment Republicans may prefer Romney to Perry, but their assumption is that either man can be counted on to steer the party back toward the broad center next fall, effectively disarming the Tea Party mutiny.

Wonder who Perry will be VP with?

Odd how that question never gets asked of Perry.

Could it be because everyone knows Perry is the GOP Establishment mole in the race to split the Tea Party/Conservative vote and hand the nomination to Romney?

Could it be because they know the ticket the GOP Machine is setting up is “Romney/Perry 2012? Think about it. Romney has the money, Perry has the idolatrous worship from the social Conservatives.

Could that be why the Perry camp is knowingly lying about Cain’s solidly Conservative record on both social and fiscal issues? Because they know full well Perry’s record can not stand close scrutiny?

What does anyone really know about Perry other then the nice words and platitudes he puts in his speeches? Looks like Perry is just Bush 3.0 another tough talking social conservative who will go to DC and be yet another good little GOP crony capitalist water boy.

>>>>>The Georgia businessman said he doesn't wear his Christian faith "on my forehead" ..

In Waverely Tennessee, Cain said:

"I’m running this campaign the way I want to run this country.”

Cain finished by doing something he doesn’t usually do, at least not on the campaign trail. An accomplished singer who released a gospel album in July, he belted out a spiritual called “He Looked Beyond My Faults.”

"I'll never know why Jesus came to love me so," sang Cain."

OMG! Brother Jesse Jackson got nothing on old Herman Cain.

I find it deeply disturbing that Cain, and Bachmann, are both going all out to try and run Perry off the campaign... Yet you never hear a damn thing about Romney

Why would you constantly beat up a guy who’s now at 10%, while leaving the guy at/tied for the top unscathed? Total bull shit

Yes, I support Perry as the guy with the best shot to stop Romney, and would support Cain if he wins.... With Bachmann, don’t care if she loses her congressional seat. The dumb shrill witch can go back to watchig her 28 kids

Problem with your analogy is Cain isn't saying that. Cain is saying replace the current failed corrupt tax system with a new system that will actually work.

Problem with your analogy is you would rather continue the Politics as usual “lie to the voters and tell them what they want to hear rather then actually address the problems" game.

With the US on the verge of fiscal ruin, as represented by the 1st ever downgrade of it's credit rating, we no longer have time to play “politics as usual” rather look for real solutions to our fiscal problems.

The only candidate offering real solutions instead of “trim around the edges while kicking the can down the road yet again” is Cain.

True, CAIN can walk the walk and talk the talk, that is a 1000 times better than sputtering, muttering, bumbling, perry.

Good grief!! Why in the heck are Cain and Bachmann obsessed with taking out Perry when Romney is the one in the lead. They need to be focusing on Romney.

There is some reason they are running interference for Romney.

Well I am glad to see you have finally came to your senses and have abandoned the "divide and conquer" GOP Establishment Romney/Perry campaign.

Actually, Cain is beginning to creep me out. With Obama, people also voted for somebody with no track record - but apparently a convincing presence (although I never thought so) - and I think the same thing is happening here.

I am in Europe right now, so I actually haven’t been hearing any of the candidates on a regular basis. But I happened to hear part of some TV coverage of Cain yesterday, and it was clear to me that he was just winging it. I’d rather have somebody with a track record, even though there were parts of it with which I disagreed, than somebody who uses catch phrases that he is pitching to particular groups that he thinks will help him get elected. We’ve been there and done that with Obama.

Governor Perry has SERVED as Texas governor since 2000, was Texas Lt Gov. starting in 1998, he was Texas Ag Commissioner, and served in the U.S. Air Force. His record is HUGE and his accomplishments well known. He served as Chairman of the Republican Governors Association twice (just resigned to run for the GOP nomination).

Is this what Mrs. Perry mean’t by Rick being attacked for his faith?

I think you should stop projecting your habitual lying onto Cain.

YOU Perrybots have done nothing BUT lie about Cain. So don't accuse everyone else of doing what you habitually do in your postings.

You need to open your eyes as to the fact that Cain is protecting Romney, as well as Bachmann.
