This aircraft is going to be a huge force multiplier for naval aviation. Adding significant power and capability to Marine support, and to any of the smaller, VSTOL carriers for ourselves, or our allies.

It will turn our LHDs into true force projection platforms. But, I gotta say that the huge gaping barn door upper door for the lift fan is wopping.
They better be aware of it or it’ll freakin’ yank their wings off.

This is the type that Italy is the only foreign customer for? Is the US really thinking about canceling the F-35B variant?

The thing that caught my eye was the calm seas that this took place in. What happens in 20’ seas? That must be challenging.

What an awesome waste of money! Kind of like the Osprey only much more expensive. An ignoramus like you should have a 100 pounds of gear stuffed into an ALICE pack held together by boot laces strapped onto your back and be forced to fly from the Persian Gulf to Bagram aboard a 40+ year old CH-46.

Yes, The Pentagon just logs into LMCO.com and buys them online.
And the Pentagon debit card has no credit limit......
Thanks to you and me. /s

The original Prototype had a four piece hinged door that folded to each side. I'm sure there is a YouTube video of the original version that I saw on the Military Channel.

I can tell you what it was like in a simulator at night, in heaving seas and low-vis... difficult. crashed the thing into the side of the ship and into the sea. Of course, I’m not a pilot and the control laws were half-baked at the time, but it sure was fun!
