ORLANDO (CBS4)-A Florida judge says pay up Casey Anthony. Anthony must pay almost $100,000 in law enforcement costs for investigating the death of her 2-year-old daughter.
Judge Belvin Perrys ruling Thursday was well short of the more than $500,000 that prosecutors and law enforcement agencies in Orlando were seeking.
Anthony was acquitted in July on charges of murdering her daughter, Caylee. But the 25-year-old was convicted of four counts of lying to authorities. She told officers a baby sitter had the child. Authorities later learned the baby sitter never existed, but the investigation drained manpower.
Casey Anthony may be in hiding following her acquittal in her daughters death, but Caseys parents are talking about their family drama that made national headlines.
George and Cindy Anthony appeared on the season premiere of Dr. Phil on Tuesday on CBS4. The third part of the exclusive interview will air on Monday, September 19.
Ping..............
Would not bankruptcy totally eliminate this debt?
Gossip has it that when she finishes her probation she has a wealthy sugar daddy that has a villa in Mexico and she is moving there ...
Ridiculous...Can’t help it if your LE stunk.
Most likely..........
Guess she will be on her back for a spell.
Thank you for this post - is Truthkeeper included?
Why is Casey Anthony “in hiding”? Who’s decision is that?! I’d like to see that b**** in court. But she’s being treated like some kind of head of state instead of the criminal psychopath that she really is. Grrr......
I just dont think most people convicted of minor crimes actually pay back hundreds of thousands of dollars to reimburse the prosecutors and the police - unless that person is very rich.
I am sure nobody in my county ever paid back more than $1000, what few actually do, and over 99% of people convicted in my county never pay us back anything.
IF this set a precedent that everyone has to pay back court costs and our police, then I should be getting a substantial refund on my property taxes.
A legal precedent like this is great, make everyone pay back the taxpayers for all of our police and court costs.
She could always hook for the money.
I don’t know if Truthkeeper is included. It’s a pretty long list........
She’d have to pay me...........
I didn’t think you could eliminate most court orders through bankruptcy.
I'm a paralegal working in BK. Criminal restitution is NOT dischargeable in BK, but we need one of our lawyers to determine if this qualifies. I'm on the fly and don't have time to read it right now.
Lawyers, please weigh in. Inquiring minds want to know!
I’m in the same camp as yourself. I also wonder if this falls under ‘Judicial harassment’. It’s like this judge and court system are trying to find one thing after another to ‘punish’ someone who was declared not guilty.
Very, very bad precedent being set here. Where will it go too next?
She was found guilty of lying to police. Police searched for an non-existent babysitter for a substantial amount of time. She is paying for the crimes she committed and was found guilty of in a court of law...
The Judge here is as arrogant and stupid as the prosecutor.
Anthony hasn't got the proverbial pot to urinate in, and this moron ONCE AGAIN, is wasting MORE taxpayer dollars and court time on a Unicorn Hunt.
THEY never should have brought this case to trial.
The issue here isn't her guilt or innocence at this point.
The issue is whether or not the Prosecutor's Office had adequate evidence to substantiate her guilt. A Jury, PLUS A LOT OF DISINTERESTED OBSERVERS opined he DID NOT.
Prosecutors do this ALL THE TIME. And THEY, PERSONALLY, should face the consequences of their incompetence.
They are lawyers with gargantuan egos in search, not of truth and justice, but of higher elected office over the carcasses of fleeced taxpayers and, in some cases, innocent victims of their ill-based attacks.
She was convicted of lying to the police.
