I just dont think most people convicted of minor crimes actually pay back hundreds of thousands of dollars to reimburse the prosecutors and the police - unless that person is very rich.

I am sure nobody in my county ever paid back more than $1000, what few actually do, and over 99% of people convicted in my county never pay us back anything.

IF this set a precedent that everyone has to pay back court costs and our police, then I should be getting a substantial refund on my property taxes.

A legal precedent like this is great, make everyone pay back the taxpayers for all of our police and court costs.

I think you guys are missing a relevant point. The judge is ordering her to pay because she misled the investigators, causing them to waste the taxpayers’ money chasing false leads. She is not simply being made to pay because there was an investigation.
