Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund who returned to Paris last week after New York prosecutors dropped rape charges against him, was questioned for three hours on Monday about a sexual assault complaint dating to 2003, his lawyers said.
In that case, a writer, Tristane Banon, now 32, has accused Mr. Strauss-Kahn of trying to rape her as she was interviewing him for a book. She lodged the complaint in July, saying that she had been advised not to press charges on the advice of her mother, a prominent member of the Socialist party, as is Mr. Strauss-Kahn. She said she changed her mind after his arrest in New York in May. The Paris prosecutor’s office opened a preliminary investigation and questioned several high-profile people last summer, including François Hollande, a leading Socialist presidential candidate.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn has called the episode “imaginary” and filed a counter-complaint of slander against Ms. Banon. It is not yet clear whether French prosecutors will decide to open a formal investigation or drop the case. While the criminal case against him in New York was dropped, he faces a civil suit brought by the hotel maid who says he raped her.
Ms. Banon recently said on her Facebook page that Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s return had sickened her and that she was ashamed of a country that “welcomes as a hero a man who hasn’t been cleared.”

DSK returned to Paris greeted like a rock star by the fawning Leftist media and his Socialist followers.
With the Socialist Primary coming up, they know DSK is toxic, but are falling all over themselves to
straddle the fence-denounce him but still (wink, wink) assure his diehard followers they will seek his counsel, and even give him a position in the government.
DSK was their great hope to beat Sarko, and they would take him back in a NY minute .... well, 9 minutes, if they thought he could lead them to victory in 2012.
With Sarko rising in the polls, with Carla expecting their baby (or twins!) shortly, & no decent candidate in sight,
highly unlikely.

And she had already interviewed him. I've NEVER met a client in an isolated setting. If I knew it would be the case, I would bring someone with me.

With the DSK civil trial in NY, DSK rape accusations in France, the Socialist Party primary around the corner, there’s a lot on the horizon.

I always think of Carla fondly since she blew the whistle on the Moocher in the White House who announced to Carla that she hated being First Lady. Remember that one? Carla is also in Woody Allen’s new movie “Midnight in Paris,” which is a very sweet movie about Paris in the 1920s.
Carla is lovely. She has been a dignified, gracious First Lady of France.

I think you’ll like it. It’s completely filmed in Paris, of course, and it’s quite magical. Modern Americans time travel back to the 1920s and meet Scott and Zelda, Alice and Gertrude, Hemingway (hilarious!) and a very young Picasso and Dali. Nothing political or annoyingly Woody. It’s very cute.

Doesn’t the mother claim that the one night stand with DSK was terrible - he abused her badly? I think this may be the NYC maid’s story: she may have agreed to sex for money and he roughed her up badly. The physical evidence was real, even if her rape story was false.
