While such parks normally are bustling with people - and have facilities to serve them - the relative seclusion appears to have emboldened some to do their business along trails and other areas where no Minnesotan would normally dare to squat.
"People are taking it upon themselves to go out in the woods and relieve themselves, and without the presence of employees and others, they're not picking up after themselves," Konrad said. "People are also having a tendency not to pick up after their pets."

I wonder if anyone outside of FR readers has ever seen the pattern of
when they government has to “shut down”, they only shut down those things that hurt the people, not those things that hurt the government or its employees.
It’s SOP for government bow-wows.
Has anyone noticed that a lot of folks in this country resort to their most primal, animal tendencies the minute that the Government Mother/Father is taken away.
Even as a young boy, I had been taught how to deal with my basic bodily functions in the woods. Nothing a little shovel and thirty seconds of time could not handle.
People these days are pigs.
Good grief...it seems people in MN can’t even take a dump without government help. Why are they publishing this embarrassing indictment of the citizens of that state?
May I ask a question: Why aren’t volunteers cleaning the dang restrooms? If I were the tea party in that state, I’d be recruiting members to do the job. Then I glove up and take a day myself :)
Generally when you read about highway rest stops being closed it’s because they’ve become gay hook-up areas for gay men on the prowl over a there or four state area.
A Sheryl Crow orgasm in the making....even LESS than 1 square being used.
Look who’s ‘essential’ in Minnesota
Shutdown has governor’s housekeeper, gardener, lawmakers still on payroll

maybe campers should poop in Marx Dayton’s yard.
Horrors!
Seriously. I spent several summers at a Minnesota summer camp. Unless things have changed drastically, there are endless places to relieve oneself in the great north woods.
who will whipe their butt?
it’s a crisis , I tell you!
Yep, exactly. It’s always the critical services that get impacted first. Never mind the millions spent on stem-cell research, AIDS, and gov’t assistance to Somali immigrants and welfare queens.
Consequences of electing a Sh-—y Government. Perhaps if they had spent less time promoting diversity and more time prompting the boy scouts, people would have learned to bury their s-—.
A blue state government that has worked diligently to destroy personal responsibility is starting to reap the rewards.
Did the parks require an entrance fee?
Could that fee cover at least costs of fee collection and restroom cleaning?
Don’t shut down operations which are, or could be, self-funding.
“Does a bear ...”
Aww, never mind....
All you need is a trowel and a limb so you can do the Orangutang Hang.
So, the real things the government employees do there is nag folks to pick up after their dogs and provide TP/ unlock the restrooms? I bet We the People can figure that one out without union pensions being part of the package.
If the (closed) parks are so busy, but people do this any way, this must mean there are a lot of Minnesotans who enjoy people watching them drop trou.
Sounds more like a Loring Park deal.
Spend the day following Dayton around with a group of picketers instead. In the 1995 Government toilet shutdown, the facilities werer locked; volunteers could not get in to clean them.
