When I first saw this, I thought it was one of those absurd multi-cultural studies. No, it’s just the food police going overboard again.

Here in Appalachia we call that Kill't lettuce and you can do something similar with cabbage, then crumble in the leftover biscuits from breakfast and pour on pepper gravy. Mmm good! You're speshul if you get a piece of leftover bacon in there, too.

The discussion here revolves around the culinary arts, not botany.

In botany tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, and peas and beans of all sorts are classified as fruits.

In the culinary arts, they are classified as vegetables.

Were they red, vadalia or yellow onions? I like a red onion with cornbread and peas/red beans/pinto beans. Spring onions with a sandwich is not a fare to cough at either. What the diverse people and liberals call “Soul Food” is the food we poor whiteys have been eating for years and still eat.

For fraternity “hell week” we wore onions on strings around our necks, and were told to take big bites from our “pledge apples.”

Didn’t like raw onions before that, and liked them less after.

What I did to get into that fraternity has been illegal for decades.

When I was a kid in the country we always ate scallions fresh from the garden, cleaned and dipped in salt. Nothing at all wrong with this, and I would guess better for you than blobs of sugarey white flour starch.

Nothing wrong with living within your means. But, I have to say that after 3 years of being poor, I was ready to graduate and start making some money.

I would like to see them try to make me eat onions, raw or otherwise.

I am allergic to onions.

Even the smell of them makes me ill.

They haven’t seen a revolt yet until they see me revolt both against the snacking on onions as well as it coming down from the big nanny state on high.
