Kind of brings up images of salt-of-the-earth peasants out of some Soviet-era propaganda film. Good luck with that!

When I was that age (and perhaps even now) I’d have gone for the raw onions instead of the raw squash.

Nah, it is good for you and good to ya!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away and a raw onion a day keeps everyone away.

...and then SCREAMED in 1995 that Republicans were trying to get rid of school lunches. Mmmm...remember those days of subsidized milk, government surplus canned vegetables, cakes that doubled as cornbread two days later, all-rat hot dogs that were redder than maraschino cherries...

I have an idea. What if (follow me carefully now), what if each child’s parent were to send their kid off to school each day with their OWN snack!!! Since the parents know what the kids like, they’d probably pack something the kids would actually eat! Is that a novel idea or what?

Raw onions, Miracle Whip, and white bread, lettuce or tomatoes if you had 'em: yum, yum...

As I harken back to my college days.

(Happy Hour was a good deal then too. You could carb for the price of a beer.)
