A Swedish appeals court has confirmed the 18 year prison sentence served to a man in Katrineholm in eastern Sweden for the murder of his adoptive daughter in a so-called honour killing.
The Svea Court of Appeal confirmed the sentence passed to Subhi Othman by Nyköping district court in March.
62-year-old Othman had admitted to killing his daughter in November 2010.
Othman stabbed his daughter on the stairs of the family home in Katrineholm after which he gave himself up to the police.
In interviews he explained that he had killed her as he considered her lifestyle to be "indecent" and that he was faced with no other alternative in order to protect the family honour.
When police arrived on the scene, they found his daughter lying in the foetal position at the bottom of the stairs. She had been stabbed 53 times.

Could the Swedes be finally waking up?
Conviction is nice, but only 18 years for premeditated murder isn’t much. In America the death penalty would be on the table.
Sweden would be wise to DEPORT all this guy's other relatives from their country as soon as possible. Otherwise someday there'll be more "honor killings" from this same crowd.
The longest sentence for any crime in Sweden is 20 years, I believe, and to get that I think you need to be a repeat offender. If this was his first felony, it might be the longest sentence he could legally receive.
Not to mention that Swedish prisons are country clubs for the most part. Private rooms, curtains on the beds, halal meals, lots of “self-improvement” courses offered and things like that.
He’ll have a great time.
Actually, it would have been a more effective punishment just to have expelled him to the hellhole he came from.
Koranimal. Damn shame they don’t have the death penalty over there.
"Indecency"? There is no fouler indecency on this planet than these murderous Muslim cowards - and these days, that's saying something.
Just thinking about these bastards makes me twitch.
