Newt Stumbles Out of the Gate
Michelle Malkin ^ | 5/16/2011 | Doug Powers

Newt Gingrich was on Meet the Press this morning in his first Sunday show appearance since announcing his intention to… challenge President Obama for the Democrat nomination, apparently.

Andrew Stiles at NRO has the details:

Newt Gingrich’s appearance on “Meet the Press” today could leave some wondering which party’s nomination he is running for. The former speaker had some harsh words for Paul Ryan’s (and by extension, nearly every House Republican’s) plan to reform Medicare, calling it “radical.”

Foolish person. You let Gregory control your mind with trick questions you will end up over there advertising viagra.

No, the issue isn't about Newt ~ not even near. It's about the Left. They are alive and well on NBC, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NPR, etc. They use material provided to them by Soros financed front organizations.

You will need to attack Gingrich for things he's says outside that milieu ~ and that's the same for all the Republican candidates, wannabe candidates, or were ever candidates.

I avoid attacking Romney and the Mitbots with anything but their own stuff.

But I am not defending Newt. I am attacking the Left. You all are buying into the legitimacy of lines of conversation that begin with a Leftwingtard statement.

Just shouldn't happen. Not in this day and age. Shut those pukes out of your minds. Attack. Attack. Attack. They are not even human.

Foolish person. You will hear a person say something without any ambiguity, and then try to pass the blame to someone else.

No, the issue isn't about Newt ~ not even near. It's about the Left.

No, the issue isn't about Gregory -- not even near. It's about what Newt said.

You are defending Newt, if you refuse to hold him accountable for unambiguous responses.

The environment was a leftwingtard show. The question, if it really was a question, was designed to disarm and squander.

Obviously it worked.

Soros has a gazillion people working this stuff up for these guys.

Think you'll ever hear a Gregory type ask Newt how to balance the budget?

They will if they're smart. 'NAFTA Newt' doesn't know how to balance the budget, he knows how to cook the books. The federal deficit went up every year he was Speaker of the House.

Newt is auditioning for Biden’s job.

You are correct about the left media working on gotcha questions for our candidates. So we should just nominate someone who can’t answer their questions because they’ll never ask him any in the general election, right?

You're making a trick point ~ that the real deficit consisting of the actual deficit and the increase in unfunded liabilities went up ~ which, of course, is always the case.

At the moment the "actual deficit" is more of a concern and the Democrats don't want to talk about that either.

It just won't get asked about, and Newt's history is that as Speaker the actual deficit didn't increase ~ but unfunded liabilities did.

I suppose if he'd stayed in office a little longer he might have gotten around to that but we'll never know.

Nice to see Newt has his own well developed keyword list, much like Rudy and Willard have. I didn’t even have to add to this one (yet).

I will never vote for him in a primary, mainly due to him backing that Dee Dee Scuzyfava(sp) in NY and calling us idiots for backing him up.

Laz, it is about the Left. The less contact with those people the better.

That's the mistake Newt made. You can't sit down with them and discuss anything. What you do is give them mini-lectures that totally ignore what they said. They'll put up with it just to have you there.

Bachman is pretty good at it ~ and even when she knows she misspoke she just breezes on as if NOSING HOPPEN!

Nonsense. No one is a Jedi Master, capable of making people respond a certain way.

Imagine Ted Nugent answering the same questions.

Newt said he has backed the Individual Mandate since the 1990's. Either retract or be branded, Newt.

you refuse to admit Gregory seized your mind and is now using it to beat up on Republicans. Bwahahahahahaha!

(Shhhh!! I sold Laz a designer tinfoil hat for $500, but I didn't mention it doesn't work against Gregory-band mind control. If he finds out, he'll want his money back for it, and for the spray can of black helicopter repellent, the Mr Rogers Marine Corps Sniper manual, and Beeber de-stuning kit.)

I think we could get away with it ~ do I advocate it? Well, not for the TV shows I watch.

That's the mistake Newt made.

No. The mistake Newt made was to pose as a Conservative when it is clear he has very left-of-center views.

Pity you don't accord Freepers the same courtesy. Why do you resort to the ad hominem?

Gingrich's gaffes were unforced errors. The guy is a decades long pro with scores of appearances on Meet the Press; he knows how to finesse these questions. He chose not to.

The time to stop that is now, else we'll end up with another McCain and Goober will win again.

Yep, like Newt! Newt has been a liberal Republican for as long as I can remember - and dalliance away from that moniker has been just that, a dalliance!

More importantly, Newt is an old-political war-horse, so he knows that these guys are going to ask left-tard leaning questions, etc... and for him to stumble on them is simply inexcusable! For you to try to make an excuse for him stumbling on them tells me you think he is great and we should give him another chance - NOPE!

As you stated, this election is too important to have someone who can't even express his own views without worrying about the perceived, acceptance! Have some balls or go home; especially a veteran of his status! For this, I and many other will give him NO QUARTER! Go home Newt!

You're making a trick point

WRONG.

Straight from the Government Printing Office. See Section 7, pages 118-119. The last time the gross federal debt went down was 1969. Sure, they passed a balanced budget, then they added supplemental and emergency spending bills, then they went back and put their overspending in the previous year's budget so the current year didn't look so bad. And keep in mind, this is while Social (in)Security was still running a surplus. That money was pillaged and spent as well.

Enron was full of amateurs. It's amazing how many people who never trust congress still believe congressional math.
