The NJ Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision telling Christie to better-fund low-income school districts. On a radio show, the host asked Christie if he could just ignore the court, and Christie replied that that was an option that he had thought of.

Sounds like the Philly Inky is blowing this up a bit in order to force the gov to declare the option is not on the table, but if Christie DID tell the NJ court to stuff it, it would be REALLY interesting.

The NJ Supreme Court is just one of three branches of NJ government. If they can order the other two branches, then what is the point of the other two branches?

The last thing the NJ public education bureaucracy needs is more money extracted from the productive class.

This is a basic problem with “democracy” the democrats get into power and contract out not only all the money at the time they spend all the money of future generations!

How are we suppose to fight an enemy that we thought we defeated? How are we suppose to defend ourselves from the burdensome demands of the dead?

The present role of the Court is all out of proportion to the role assigned it by the constitution and history. All these jurists want to ape the SCOTUS, but theirs and the Federal high court are very different institutions.

Depends on what is considered an “adequate” education. Time to go back to the 3R’s, civics, phys ed. Maybe some arts & crafts.

Around 20% of students are classified as “special ed”. It is no longer only those with birth defects.

Lawyers & judges (and the parents who enable them) have ruined the inner workings of the system, from hamstringing discipline to creating services that take away resources from the many to placate the few.

Or Christie could follow the court order, taking money budgeted for the state’s courts to fund the schools. Wouldn’t put it past him.

saying equitable funding was a right under the state constitution because of a provision, approved by voters in 1875, mandating a "thorough and efficient" education.

That means he can pass a school choice bill in NJ. It's the only way kids can get a "thorough and efficient" education.

Gov. Christie: get out a dictionary and read the definitions of “thorough” and “efficient,” and proceed accordingly.
