I know, I know. Youre not feeling that chipper over the last-minute aversion of a government shutdown. Perceived caves on key defunding issues like Planned Parenthood, NPR, and the budget in general have a lot of us feeling a bit down, although there may be room for some guarded optimism my colleague Joseph Klein lays out the case here. And although all right-thinking people are relieved that the Left will not hold our soldiers hostage during a government shutdown, many of us think that shutting down so-called nonessential federal functions is EXACTLY what we need to do long term.
However. We can certainly take heart in knowing that our friends on the Left are reeling with despair over Friday nights deal.
Illustrative of this perceived trauma is Huffington Post writer Richard (RJ) Eskow, otherwise known as Senior Fellow with The Campaign for Americas Future (in the interest of full disclosure, please note that I am Senior Gal with The Campaign to Cut the Snot out of the Federal Budget). Anyway, Eskows article is entitled Why Progressives Keep On Losing and the Right Keeps on Winning, which tells you right there the mood over at Huffpo.
Eskow attempts to rally the troops by explaining how those evil Tea Partiers manage to outmaneuver the socialist Left, but hes got his premises (surprise!) all wrong:
its not as if progressives dont have any cards to play. Their policies are very popular, while those of the Tea Party and the Republicans are equally unpopular.
Uh, what? Eskow must have screwed on his lefty blinders so tightly that its interfering with his ability to remember the 2010 election.

Guess they got tired!
Has the dust cleared yet? Have the tears stopped flowing?
Until the 2012 General.. the best We can hope for is gridlock’d gubamint.. and more Jobs.. things like higher fuel cost and food prices will take care of the rats in coming elections.
but wait,, what is the buzz on the tube this morning? ‘Dems to propose higher taxes on the ‘rich’’.
‘Cuse me, got to go sharpen my pitchfork.. even if I’m not ‘rich’.. yet. ;-)
Sharpen it well!
I hope no one here even considered the idea that they would back off. They never stop. This is why we need to strap in for the long run, finally, instead of wishfully thinking that one good ass-kicking will win something.
You are talking about the SOS from the same old hate Republicans on Free Republic.
That was last year’s budget. Inspite of owning the White House and $inate, the rats had to eat a lot of crow.
The real budget test comes next, and again we only control one/third of what it takes to pass a budget/bill.

So I’m out of a job, can’t afford to put gas in my car, and am eating beans and weiners every night. But that wealthy bastard down at the Country Club is gonna be able to afford one less yacht next year. HOORAY! /sarc
See link at #8.
Look for many mentally unstable lefties to have some severe reactions from dangerous to others to destructive and dangerous to themselves.
“Guess they got tired!”. But getting ready for a new assault as the 2012 budget battles start.
They’ve been pounding somethin’ anyway. ;’)
