Hispanic Boom

New Census figures out this week show that the Hispanic population in the U.S. has increased dramatically over the last decade. Hispanics now number roughly 50 million nationwide, up from 35 million in 2000. They also are no longer concentrated in just a handful of Southwestern states, as they were for decades, but have spread out across the country. Some of the largest percentage increases have incurred in Southern states, with the Hispanic population more than doubling in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee. Both higher Hispanic birthrates and immigration have driven this trend.

But what will this demographic shift in the American population mean in the long term? I've documented the rapid assimilation of Hispanics into the social and economic mainstream for years, starting with my 1991 book, "Out of the Barrio: Towards a New Politics of Hispanic Assimilation."

Like the descendants of their German, Italian, Polish, and other immigrant predecessors, Hispanics have adopted English as their primary -- indeed, for most third-generation Hispanics, only -- language. They eventually catch up in earnings and other indicators of social integration, though they still lag in completion of college degrees. As a point of reference, it took Italian-Americans six decades from their point of peak immigration to catch up with other groups in education attainment.

And in the ultimate test of assimilation, Hispanics actually intermarry at higher rates than their European counterparts did at a similar point in their history in the U.S.

If this pattern continues, the increase in the size of the Hispanic population will have no more disruptive effect on the character of the American population than did the absorption of millions of Southern and Eastern Europeans early in the 20th century. But, as occurred then, a large and growing backlash against this demographic shift is taking place now.

In the early 20th century, that backlash basically closed the door on legal immigration. In 1924, the U.S. passed laws to severely restrict immigration-laws that were intentionally aimed at keeping out certain categories of immigrants based on ethnicity: namely Italians, Poles, Russians (who were mostly Jewish), and other Southern and Eastern Europeans. Congress had already passed laws forbidding immigration of Chinese and other Asian immigrants in 1882.

Today the backlash has mostly focused on illegal immigration -- but fewer illegal immigrants are entering the U.S. now than at any point in the last 35 years due to the economic downturn and better border enforcement. Nonetheless, illegal immigration has been a major factor in the growth of the Hispanic population, with an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants now living here.

In addition, some 350,000 children born in 2009 had at least one parent who was an illegal immigrant, according to a study by the Pew Hispanic Center. Overall, some 8 percent of children born now have at least one parent who is an illegal immigrant. Because all persons born in the United States (other than the children of diplomats) are constitutionally guaranteed U.S. citizenship by birth, the U.S. citizen children of illegal immigrants have become the latest target of this backlash.

Last week, the Arizona legislature, which has been on the front lines of the anti-illegal immigration movement, failed to pass legislation aimed at denying citizenship to children whose parents reside in the state illegally. But the controversy there continues. State Senate President Russell Pearce has fanned the flames by releasing a letter written by a substitute teacher in Phoenix, who claimed: "Most of the Hispanic students do not want to be educated but rather be gang members and gangsters." Pearce's Republican state senate colleague Lori Klein read the letter into the record during the debate.

Imagine the furor that would have ensued had a legislator read into the record a letter claiming, "Most black students want to become welfare cheats," "Most Jewish students want to become Bernie Madoff" or "Most Italian students want to join the Mafia."

The teacher also claimed that students in his eighth-grade class refused to pledge allegiance to the flag and that they asserted, "We are Mexicans and Americans stole our land." But the allegations turn out to be false. The school district has investigated them and could not find a single person present on the two days the sub taught at the school who corroborated his claims.

The changing demographics of the American population are a fact -- but how we respond to them will determine whether we successfully assimilate these new Americans or not. Pearce's model, which promotes racist stereotypes in public discourse, is the wrong way.

Invasion has been their plan. After they have enough legislative and enforcement power the seizure of assets will commence.

It is an invasion. There isn't going to be any assimilation. We are losing our country.

We can turn this around, but that would necessarily involve various degrees of nastiness -- and we no longer have the stomach to do what is required.

We should take these pronouncements with a grain of salt. The latino PR machine is going at mach speed....thanks to our tax dollars funding their mouthpiece---La Raza. Obviously latinos hope to intimidate Americans. They are flexing their muscles to gain political power...........Third World satraps are egging then on b/c they hunger for US tax dollars to pour into their hellholes.

Remember 2010 Midterms, when Obama told latinos to "punish their enemies" by voting against Republicans. How'd that work out for suckup Dems (who got annihilated)? ROTFL

YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS Obama had BIG PLANS for the latino vote in the 2010 governor's NJ. That flopped bigtime when the Dem-centric state elected a Republican. Here’s how Biden and Obama’s ill-fated NJ campaign to organize latinos for Dems went down:

OBAMA WAS DESPERATE FOR NJ GOV CORZINE TO WIN. Obama and Obama were heavly invested in the race---one of only two statewide races. This was the first test for Obama's policies. Obama campaigned in NJ three times, Biden was here twice. Obama TV ads ran relentlessly on costly NY media.

Obama put the power of the WH political machine behind Corzine. The NY Times reported:
(a) every TV ad Corzine put on the air was screened by Obama's WH "geniuses."
(b) Corzine's aides gave the WH daily briefings.
(c) Obama’s pollsters took over for Corzine’s polling team, and,
(d) White House operatives were on the ground for internal strategy sessions.

Democrats rigged the election with latino votes (so they thought)
(e) White House operatives were orchestrating obscure pep rallies with Latinos (kept secret from voters),
(f) Corzine had a "Peruvian Pac" endorsing him.
(g) Corzine promised to give illegals ‘driving credentials’ & in-state tuition.
(h) Corzine sucked up to illegal immigrants and REFUSED to enforce current immigration laws
(j) Corzine's Blue Ribbon committee of Hyphenates used tax dollars to mine votes for Corzine.
(j) Also sucking up to illegals for Corzine was Sen Robert Menendez

OTHER SALIENT POINTS
>> Incumbent Corzine (the wealthy loser) outspent the winner Chris Chirstie about 4-1.
>> New Jersey has a huge Democratic registration.
>> Corzine bragged he had 20,000 paid union helpers to get out the vote.
>> There was a third party candidate siphoning off Republican votes.
>> Corzine had the power of incumbency.
>> Corzine had the power of a crooked Democrat Machine cooking the vote.

NJ is Latino Fraud Central for latinos slobbering at the public trough with several fake id's.....and voting. Read on.

Texans accused of selling counterfeit IDs (impoverished illegals "here for a better life" pay several thousand $$$ for fake ID's)

NORTH BERGEN (AP) The Pelcastre brothers were a walking threat to national security -- expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity, authorities said. When police stumbled across the pair, the men had turned a hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local identity broker. The brothers, Angel, 31, and Jorge, 34, both of Dallas, were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of government documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses for any state in the country , including passports and resident alien cards, said state police.

If a terrorist were able to get their hands on this stuff, they'd have free passage throughout the country.

A L/E task force happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in the parking lot of the hotel . Authorities wouldn't identify the hotel by name for fear it would spark retribution from savage blood cartels. The L/E task force regularly runs checks on motor vehicles in area motels.

Members of the task force began watching the cars, a Chevrolet Impala and a Pontiac Firebird, and followed the brothers to an office supply store in a nearby shopping center, where the two purchased computer supplies. Officers then followed the brothers to a self-storage facility where they loaded several boxes from a storage unit into one of the cars. One man was a lookout.

Authorities approached them when they returned and questioned them separately. The brothers consented to a search of their cars, hotel room and storage facility.

Police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs. All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street. Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a fake document broker for a shipment of 500 Social Security cards.

"They were aggressively selling to brokers. This isn't like selling driver's licenses to individuals. These were multiple layers of high-level documents."

The brothers were held without bail on charges of possessing fraudulent documents and conspiracy to sell fraudulent documents. Federal charges are also pending against them.

In the first half of the 20th. century, Pittsburgh was overrun by new immigrants from Poland, Czechoslovakia and Italy. But we never had a Univision in Czech, Polish, Slovak or Italian.

I rest my case.

There wasn’t any television either, but there were dozens of non-English newspapers.

Yet another piece which totally ignores and does not even ask how many of these “50 million” are illegals, and thus cannot and must not vote.

Maybe the third gernation folks have, yet when I call any government or utility office, I have the immediate option of switching to a Spanish speaker.

The assimiliation isn’t happening these days as it did when our ancestors arrived.

We are being forced to adapt to THEM. Time to close the borders & round up the lawbreaking illegals
